Any sort of feather tickling is such a major turn on for me. Like a lot of you, I can remember all of those kinky tickle torture interrogation scenes in cartoons I saw as a young kid--most of them, for the cartoon illustrating effect, always involved feathers as the right tool for tickling feet. I offer as Exhibit A in this case the Canelli tickling tapes featuring stocks at real Renaissance Faires. [See attached photo collage]. What's so revealing about these tapes is the genuine authenticity of the ticklees. These are real women just strolling around at a local tourist attraction. They go there with no clue they will wind up tickled (evidence of this are the ones who have things like Band-Aids on their toes). After seeing hundreds of these victims who (unlike professional tickle videos) are not acting for the camera, some fascinating facts emerge:

1) Intense foot-ticklishness (the only kind that really matters, ultimately) is far more rare than our fantasies suggest. A lot of the women in those stocks wind up having little or no reaction to the foot tickles of any variety. For those of us who covet ticklish-footed women, this is the sad truth we discover in real life too.

2) Feather tickling rarely produces much of a reaction. The ticklers at these faires always start with the feather tickles. Occasionally there are women so ticklish that this feathery touch rocks their world. More often than not, the feather produces a polite smile, maybe a playful wiggle of the toes, followed by virtually no reaction.

3) When the ticklers switch from feathers to fingers, the reaction is ALWAYS more intense. Most of the women, seemingly relieved by the mildness of the feather assault, become quite shocked at the dramatic increase of stimulation when fingers replace feathers. Even those who turn out to be rather disappointing as the tickling continues have a much stronger initial reaction to fingers than to feathers.

4) The pointy stem of the feather DOES have a wild effect. When the ticklers next turn the feather around and "write" on the soles, the sharp feather point usually is as effective as fingers.

Most of these facts are well-known to ticklers with extensive tickling experience. Still, seeing this so consistently proven by the rapid-fire parade of ticklees in these tapes is very informative. And by the way, I'll always have a fondness for the image of a feather tickle. That was one of the earliest fantasies I had as a kid. The notion that something so soft and deceptively safe could drive someone wild was always a turn on to me. However, the actual effectiveness of our fine-feathered friend in reality is ultimately disappointing.

i usually go to our local Renaissance Faire every year. i am fascinated with the stocks. if i wasn't with family or friends that don't know, i would probably sit there all day waiting for someone to be tickled in them. one time when i was at the faire they had a guy tied with his arms over his head with practically nothing on to a wooden stick. i so wanted to stay and see what was going to happen but no one i was with had an interest of seeing. they just kept walking. i have had a girl in a costume walk up to me once when i was there and surprised me by saying tickle tickle while tickling me under my chin with a feather. the feather would of worked much better in so many other places🙂 i guess you need to watch out for feathers while at the faire. ren faire people seem to be quite fascinated with them. i love ren faire people. lol

I'm ticklish enough that someone tickling my feet (or most other places, for that matter) is enough to drive me instantly bonkers and send me immediately to the brink of promising anything, through helpless giggles, to get it to stop. That said, I've never had a feather applied to my feet (or anywhere else, for that matter), and it's hard to imagine it tickles that much. It certainly can't possibly tickle anywhere near as much as a woman's fingers, the very proximity of which to my feet (or stomach or sides or underarms) is enough to make me crazy.

I've always assumed the appeal some find in feathers must be mostly conceptual instead of practical.
