FEATHERSTONE MANSION: A tickle horror game/novel
Version 1.4

Looks like a few tickle rpgs have been coming out of the woodwork lately so I better throw my hat into the ring too. I wanted to make something a little different than your standard 'tickle battle' game so I decided do something in the same vein as 'Laughing House' by TickleWizard.

What's it all about?:
Featherstone Mansion is game where you take control of one of two girls, either Ruby or Beth, who decide to explore a creepy mansion. Like all cliché horror games you must interact and solve puzzles in order to advance through the mansion, only to find that the mansion's inhabitants are rather... Tickle obsessed, much to the dread of the two girls.

Features:
- Multiple cg scenes created using 3DCG, similar to scenes used in the game 'Lunatic Gate'. Be advised that later in the game there will be scenes of light nudity.
- Choice of 2 characters to play through with different interactions. Ruby being the feisty red-head whilst Beth being the stuttering shy girl.
- No 'Game Over' scenes. I know, alot of people are into those types of games but I kinda like to be rewarded for progression not failure. Tickle scenes will come as you progress through the game not the other way around...
-... Which leads us to the tickling! I tried to cover most bases with this but I know I can't please everybody. Might add more scenes if there is interest.

Reminder that this is made using RPG Maker VX and NOT Ace (I know, I started making it before Ace went on a Steam sale...) so you'll need the VX RTP to play it.

Anyways, check it out. Report bugs, make suggestions and let me know what you think. Cheers.

Planning on releasing it very soon don't worry.

It's still a little buggy and typo ridden at the moment but the bulk of the game is done, it just needs tweaking so that it's playable. There's alot of small stuff I have to include as well, like safe point locations etc. This thread was really just an ultimatum to myself so that I would complete it real soon 🙂.

Bugger me... Another bloody TKRPG! And this ones stealing my idea the cheeky bugger!

Can't wait to see what you've got in store bud!

'Laughing House' ultimately did inspire me to start making this, the idea was too good to pass up on so you're right on that part :lol.

It has a little something from other cheesy horror titles (https://vndb.org/v4802 being one of them) but nothing groundbreaking. Anyway I plan to have something for you to play around with before the month is over. Since it's short, I don't see the point of making a demo.

Always glad to inspire and always happy to help if needed bud! Do yourself a favour though, don't try to make too many branching multiple choices like I did XD Keep it simple!

Small games are good, means you don't get burnt out whilst making them!

one day you guys should all team up to make an amazing game. With each handling a different section you'd get burnt out less and could focus on specific sections or paths. Plus you could bounce ideas off each other and show teach each other fun tricks you've learned.... But that's in an ideal world I've created in my mind, not this one... DAMN YOU BRAIN!

Anyway, back on topic. Looks awesome! I like what you did with the poser(?) art as well. I'll lie and say I'm waiting patiently.

Speaking from past times trying to do large scale collabs.... They often end up going bad quick

Alright, I've managed to put together something that plays. Man, I never knew there was so much to check when using RPG Maker... I'm currently staying in non-Internet housing so I'll post something tommorrow or Thursday depending on my situation.

Quick question. I was thinking of adding a way to view tickle scenes again (like an optional map once you complete the game). Would you prefer a scene selection map or simply more save files before each scene in game?

I'd say a scene selection map would be preferable, since you wouldn't have to worry about overwriting saves, losing them, having to remember which one to load, etc.

Alright, I've posted a link to the game in the original post (ah jeez, I hope it works). Let me know if there's an trouble with it or anything so I can make a new one or something. If it works, huzzah!

Got an audio file error after getting the West Hall Key and going back into the room with the chairs. A file named 'FURUH' or something.

Same thing with me may just try to find an audio file and rename it to that to see if it'll work

The audio file is "15 - Gan-chan Senkyonitatsu . Fuuunhen" seems to have a different symbol then it's showing I think that might be the problem I'll see if i can fix it until the maker comes back

Edit: Okay fixed it, go into your BGM under audio files then rename the old "15 - Gan-chan Senkyonitatsu . Fuuunhen" to 15 - Gan-chan Senkyonitatsu · Fuuunhen and that should fix it. Worked for me.

Damn. Should have renamed those BGMs to something simpler. First bug of many I think :cry. I always overcomplicate things... Thanks.
See if I can sort that out.

I'm gonna start by saying that I love this game. It was nice to have a tickling game that wasn't completely combat based, and that had a really good "Creepy mansion" theme. Also, I loved the Luigi's Mansion music. Awesome game, no game-breaking bugs (so far), and I'll enjoy playing Ruby's side soon.

However, I have to say that I'm at (what I assume to be) the last section of Beth's story, and after 15+ attempts at this section, I had to give up for today because it was so frustrating. I despise sections of games that take "Trial by Error" to the point that you have almost zero chance of completing until you've played it over and over and over again until you've completely memorized what you're supposed to do.

Again, love the game for the most part, and I'm not even done. Just wanted to rant a little.

Just throwing my review if you would call it that in here... But this game is godly. Personally I haven't run into anything that hasn't impressed me. The atmosphere of the game is rather refreshing, great music, creepy sounds and even just the sounds of the footsteps when your walking through the mansion left a nice impression on me. I loved the scenes where you had to hide and hope that that weird monster doesn't find you. (Mind you I haven't completed the game yet but I'm pretty much at the end I believe) The story itself is quite interesting and that segment with the maze really had me in a bit of a panic, not even kidding.

If anything the only nitpick I would have with the game is that there are no scenes when your caught by a maid or monster or anything, although I just assumed that you wanted the game done and programming in all those scenes onto every maid and whatever else is in the game would take forever. In all, amazing work. I hope to see more games from you in the future.

Yours sincerely. -Random person.

Is it the maze? The library? Both parts I might have made a little too unforgiving. PM if you're stuck.

Also, that sound issue might be because I had a BGM and ME have the same name. Gonna link a slightly revised version of the game with different sound filenames when I know where they are all used...

Talking about the weird monster, I do not understand How I'm supposed to hide from him (2nd encoutner). The basket is the only place to hide but he always finds me.

Thanks for the review 🙂. This game might be a one off (got a few life issues atm) but we'll see.

Are you sure? 😉. But seriously, interact with everything.

I'm gonna hit the hay. It's 4:00am here in England and I've officially lost control of my life. Just wanted to get the game out there. Peace.

Strange. I tried all. The chest for example; I tried all other objects in the room.

It 2nd encounter once I control Beth or Ruby (the intro doesn't count).

But your game is really well done. I really like the ambiance inside the manor for example.

It was the maze. I had to open a word document and write down which directions I went each time, and eventually got through it.

Rest of it was good, library wasn't that bad because I just had to be cautious, and picked up on the pattern for which bookshelves to look at pretty fast.

Really loving the game so far, when I was in the dungeon and I saw that a chest required 50 coins (I only had 41) what's in it? I'm really curious.

Edit:
Beat it and found what was in the chest, really great game, probably my top 5 that I've played. It would of been perfect if it had some game over tickles, I know you said that you feel you need to win to get scenes but I think maybe adding just 1 or 2 wouldn't of hurt it seemed like a good opportunity for one near Minor Spoiler the very end when the mistress was chasing you, if you got captured it would of made for a good bad ending. But just my opinion but even without them it's still a great game and the writing and details on the scenes made the game great!

I found how we could escape the monster (2nd encounter). And yeah just as all others say, this game is awesome!

Especially it's ambiance.

It's finally out huh? Letting the Spooping begin!

Liking the use of custom character scenes so far and kudos to you for using a light script! (so much easier in VX than in Ace!). One thing I will say though, might want to cut down on the flashing in scenes or at the very least, put an epilepsy warning at the start of your game. It's only minor and might not seem like much, but if you get someone with epilepsy boot this up, those TK scenes might trigger them.

Oooh perhaps I'll make a new friend.... a ghoul friend!

Just did the Maze, bravo for how you've done some error handling for the chaser! I did admittedly try to use my knowledge of the RPG Maker's AI system to get the bugger stuck, only to spawn another moments later. How do I know it's not the same one? I got lost and ended up with 2 of the buggers chasing me!
