As many of you know I am a Notre Dame fan. I bleed blue and gold.
Initially I even had predicted among my friends a 7-5 season at best and a 6-6 at least. And even though he has equaled my expectations.....
THAT LOSS TO SYRACUSE and the last 4 minutes of the game against Navy are simply the straws that broke this Irish fans back.

He has not delivered, he has not brought us any kind of success that was above previous coaches that were fired for better records than he has had the last 2 years (9-15) and it is now clear to me that all he is a glorified Offensive Coordinator, that can only work wonders with a Spy Cam in hand and all technology the NFL has to offer him.

If Notre Dame EVER wants to get back into national prominence and relevance they need to take time and find a great coach (Notre Dame ties or not) and then let him take full control of the program.

SO I SAY AGAIN!!! FIRE WEIS!!!!

Rob

Partially, but Notre Dame has more than enough money to pay him off.

Thankfully for that.

FIRE CHARLIE WEIS!!!!

And we all know ND stands for Notre Dame now, right?!?! LOL

Rob

Yeah, fire Charlie and bring back Ty Willingham.:jester:

(Sorry, but I do enjoy the plight of the Fighting Irish)

That contract has a $20,000,000 buyout clause does it not??? That is a ton of money to pay someone who will not be doing anything for the school.

LMFAO!!! i hope he keeps his job just because i despise norte dame and he is a terrible coach .... keep up the great work weis the only reason he ever won was because he had ty's players ... norte dame only fired ty out of racism and now karma is gettn them

already know the racism comment is going to be argued aganist but through 10 games weiss and willenham had the same record and ty was being criticized and weiss got a 10 yr contract extension and at this point in weiss's coaching career at nd he and ty have the exact same winning percentage (look it up) but yet im sure weiss will be kept but ty was fired without a second thought

Ty's firing had nothing to do with racism.

It had to do with Notre Dame thinking they could get a bigger name, and with the success of the Patriots, they went after Weis.

If Tony Dungy was available for Notre Dame and it seemed he would go, Notre Dame would fire Weis and hire Dungy. It has nothing to do with race, just the BIG NAME COACH status that Notre Dame wants.

If there is a big name coach available after the season, and if they show interest in Notre Dame, no matter who it is Notre Dame will try and get them, nothing about race, only status.

gotta disagree i remeber all the race talks after it happened and they still continue .. ive heard a lot of sportscasters make the point and i agree

There were 'racial undertones' (or considered to be) for two reasons:

1. Ty was a good, solid coach. And he was only 3 years into coaching ND. The best was clearly yet to come, but he never got to coach Quinn, Szarmadjia, etc.

2. ND's history is not exactly prominent with minorities.

Those two reasons, combined with the immediate praise of Weis after he took over and led Ty's recruits to 10 wins is why some people cry 'rascism'.

It's not offbase, but not a bullseye either.

2. ND's history is not exactly prominent with minorities.
Our last National Title was won with a minority QB, Tony Rice, at a time when minority QB's were not found often in Division 1.

Some of our greatest players in the last 20 or so years are names like:
Raghib Ismail, Jerome Bettis, Ricky Watters, Tim Brown are just a few.

Notre Dame is not a racist school, granted it may not be the headquarters for the NAACP, but its certainly not racist.

Yes, there are many PLAYERS/STUDENTS who have history with/in ND.

I was referring more to say...

Teachers/professors, deans, presidents, athletic directors, coaches... FACULTY.

The viewpoint I was/am referring to is how ND is run by a' non-minority' crowd; or at least, that was the wide perception.

Of course their student base has a minority history. Every school does thanks to 'affirmative action'.

The last chart I saw had Willingham with a higher Notre Dame winning percentage than Weis, if im not mistaken.

whether the racial inferences and overtones of are true or not, those inferences and allegations of lack of fairness are sure to magnify, and can do serious damage to Irish efforts to recruit the top talented minority players in the country. Thats why I believe Weiss will ultimately be let go.

Either if they keep him (terrible coach and person) or fired him (pay him tons of dough for nothing, Notre Lame is screwed. I agree that the Ty Willingham decision was based on race as well.

The track record of bad decisions in recent years display this schools arrogance and perhaps karma is coming back to bite them.

Who was that coach, George O'Leary....the one who exaggerated on his resume, screwing Ty and now keeping Weis.

If this school had any guts at all they'd join the Big Ten.

I just heard yesterday N D retained Weis.....if it's true, I cant believe it.....

Yes, Notre Dame is keeping Weis. Im not happy about it but what can I really do.

But at least 6-6 is better than what Rod the Sod brought over to Big Blue.

And ND doesn't need the Big 10. Notre Dame may never be the powerhouse it was in the past, but it does not mean ND will never be good again. I'll suffer through these years, and eventually all will be ok.

But at least I can say ND has never lost to App. St at home.

Big Blue can enjoy that one.
