Just a question, what exactly do you mean that this is a "Flame Free Forum"?

"Flames" are pointless insults or opinions that are held forth ina manner to deliberately incite pointless argument.


"You are a fucking wanker" is a flame.

"If you think that you're a wanker because you didn't consider..." is insulting certainly, but not a flame. By and large it's best to leave that sort of "reasoning" well alone. You can disagree with someone very powerfully without resorting to flaming.

i just love the british language. and because this is a tickling discussion area, flames shouldnt be necessary. leave that for the political/religion threads..

that would be the Kings English, melly .... the proper way of spelling and speaking the English language ... 😀 ...and I agree with the last part of your comment ... buTT ... I stay away from that forum .... religiously ....

This doesn't mean that people can't disagree with other people, but it does mean that everyone who wishes to post here is required to go out of their way to make sure that they are being constructive and positive. We are a forum, a place for discussing ideas, and anything that doesn't contribute to the business of doing that is unproductive and unwelcome. Just because we have freedom of speech in the United States, doesn't mean that anyone can say anything they want while the Senate is in session.

The TMF requires a similar level of decorum from its users, and we are always in session. Intelligent disagreement and debate are encouraged and welcome. Simple negativity is not. For example, if you don't like a story, saying why is encouraged and welcome. Saying that it's "lame" is not.

And to get this out of the way in advance, yes there is censorship on the TMF. Posts that do not abide by the Golden Rule, in the opinion of the administrative staff of the TMF, will be removed and people who frequently make such posts will risk having their posting privileges revoked.

The long and short of it is, be constructive, not assinine. If you are, Mimi, Myriads, or some other mod will drop the hammer of indiscriminate justice on yo head.

I have had some psychos write me from here that became cyber stalkers. Can't get online for them constantly messaging me. I would think that would be included as a Flame--- An unwanted message when I have ignored them, blocked them and told them to stop bothering me! They just don't quit!

It seems that ignore list only works while you are online, but when you sign off and come on again, they are no longer ignored.

Youre talking about the chatroom, which is true. But on the forum, you can ignore someone and it persists. As for the rest, obviously we cant control or monitor what two people privately say to each other. Our ability, and our desire, to moderate ends at the public forum.

No, actually, PM the forum Moderators about that little problem. Using a regular user to flame another user for flaming you is not the answer. Please use the proper channels, like PMing the moderators, like Cosmo_AC, Mimi, or Myriads.
