Flash Player Problem

I need some information about Macromedia's Flash player. When I tried to install Flash for Mozilla/Firefox (partially supported), my Flash player for Internet Explorer mysteriously vanished. When I reinstalled Flash for IE, my ISP dial-up connection began freezing every five minutes and could only be terminated with Task Manager. Uninstalling both Flash players solved the problem.

Now I'm without a Flash-enabled browser, but I'm hesitant to reinstall either player. Does anyone here have any experience with this type of problem? I suspect it was Flash for Firefox that was causing the freezes because Firefox only partially supports it, but I don't know why the Active-X Flash control for IE disappeared and am not sure if I should reinstall it.

Thanks,

Val:

In my opinion, you should reinstall the Flash plugin for IE. I know a lot of people say bad things about IE (probably you too, if you were possessed to use Firefox in the first place), but I find it trustworthy.

Thanks, J; that is kind of where I was leaning 🙂 I'll try it later and see if it runs ok.

Either that or give the firefox player one last try now the IE plugin is gone? Might have just been a conflict.

That's the other thing I was wondering. I almost never use IE, so having Flash in Firefox would be more beneficial to me.

On the other hand ... my ISP uses a default browser based on an ancient version of Mozilla, with a non-upgradeable very early Flash player (v5.0), so I'm not sure if the Firefox Flash was conflicting with the IE version or with the early "Mozilla" version that I'm stuck with.
