A bit obscure but something I noticed on FML. Worth a chuckle at least:


Today, my boyfriend grabbed my love handles. It tickled, so I giggled and squirmed out of his grip. He looked at me quizzically and said, "I'm surprised you still have feeling there with all that fat." FML

You'll find though that Americans are a bit sensative about the weight issue. Expect fellow members not to find it funny.

i take it ur not around women much then? ALL WOMEN r sensitive about their weight lol. guys dont reli care so much. maybe in america they do, but im sure not as much as the women 😉 😛 lol (this isnt said in an argumentative way btw. hope it doesnt come accross that way :s lol)

kind of? idk, thats hitting rock bottom in terms of the "respect for your mate" guage. There are definitely a lot better ways of addressing the issue.

It appears you didn't read my post. I never said anything about women. I simply said that our American members on the forum might find it offensive. In other countries around the world calling someone "fat" isn't an insult, but in the U.S. its liable to make someone cry. An not ALL women are sensitive about their weight....in many countries it isn't an issue. While I could see the humor in the statement I knew our members(majority American) wouldn't find the same humor he found(look, nothing but negative responses from both men and women).

As for being around women much...... ;o) I think people like myself and in my position do pretty ok!

Some Native American cultures find it a compliment. 🙂 It means you're getting enough to eat, taking care of yourself with fill of food, etc.

yeah some people from other countries don't find it offensive to be called fat.

However,there are two people that said that was mean tha wasn't from America on this thread so... Americans aren't the only ones that find it mean lol

but guys don't care tha much about their weight even in America, atleast I don't. The only problem I have with my weight is that girls care and its getting them to not want to date me. 😛

Show me one country except maybe in deepest darkest Africa where a woman wouldn't find a comment like that from her partner insulting! Plus, he most definitely meant it as an insult! It was just plain mean!
