Guys, can we please please please let this thread die?
Some people think what he did was trivial. Some people think it was pretty gross. We've thrashed this to death. Can we let it go now?
For what it's worth, I think the situation a few years ago was pretty different, as evidenced by the different responses: In that case two people reacted very strongly. I wasn't around at the time, but it seems that a lot of people had fairly negative opinions of one or both of the guys.
To sum up in biased terms: Someone did something that wasn't 100% on the up-and-up. Two guys jumped down his throat, and claimed to have contacted the cops. Other people thought they were jerks, and said so. That shows a "mob mentality"?
On the other hand, here a bunch of people thought what a guy did was pretty bad. He apologized for it. Some other people thought what he did was okay. Both groups argued. That shows a "mob mentality"?
To paraphrase our Secretary of Defense, you post on the forum you've got, not the forum you'd like to have. For better or worse, this is what you've got. Take it or leave it. But neither of us has anything new to say, and no one's going to convince anyone else. Can we please let it go and move on?
