For Ness - Love Hina (f/f)

Been a while since I drew a TK pic, so here I go again in my mission to tickle those characters who don't get anywhere near enough of it. I got the idea for this pic from Nessie, who pointed out that there were no pics of Mutsumi from Love Hina getting it (as far as I know, this is the first, altough there probably are a couple others out there somewhere).

So here we have the ever-ditzy Mutsumi Otohime, whose downfall has been brought about by her two favourite things - kotatsu and watermelons. Naturally, Naru wastes no time in using this opportunity to get one over on her rival.

I still have a long way to go as far as drawing is concerned, but this has been the picture I've worked hardest on so far (2 hours to draw/scan, 1 hour to outline, 2 hours to colour/stick together - not all in one sitting, obviously).

I always like the trapped and tickled theme, with the ler clearly enjoying herself. I like that the cutaway is large enough and placed in a roughly anatomically correct position. I think that helps the visual flow. I have seen pics where the cutaway is small and off somewhere. That spoils the effect that they are really the same object. I like the one sock on, implying Naru had to strip one sock off. I like the textured background. It gives visual interest and a sense of an environment to "ground" the event. Well, enough of my amateur attempt at analysis. I just plain liked it.

I too find the insert shot a clever, well realized touch! The girls' predicament is quite cute, and the colors are well chosen and nicely sculpted! Plus, I really, really like watermelon! Who could ask for anything better!

Cute picture. It reminds me of the scene from the anime that went like this. 🙂

"What about you Mutsumi, who do you like?"- Naru

"Ah, who me, well... I guess I like watermelons, and sitting at my heated table, and I like the hotsprings!"- Mutsumi

"Those are THINGS! WHO do you like!?"- Naru

"Oh, I guess Keitaro. He's my type of guy!"- Mutsumi

"You're kidding! How can you find anything about him attractive?! You probably don't realize it, but Keitaro is a klutz, he's stupid and a pervert, not to mention he's not good at anything!"- Naru

"Hey! You didn't have to tell her all that!"- Keitaro

*Naru throws a bathing bucket at Keitaro*

"Stop peeking at us you pervert!"- Naru

"Hey, Keitaro, would you like to go out on a date with me?"- Mutsumi

"A WHAT?!"- Keitaro

"Mutsumi, are you out of your mind?!"- Naru

"Well its not fair that you're the only one that gets to go out with him!"- Mutsumi

"So then that was a date you went on!"- Shinobu (gets all teary-eyed)

"No Shinobu! It wasn't! I would never date him!"- Naru

"So what do you say (to Keitaro)? Do you still want to go out with me?"- Mutsumi

"(To Naru) Umm...well....is it ok?"- Keitaro

"Do whatever you want! Don't ask me!"- Naru (she leaves the hotsprings in anger)

LOL, I love that scene. 😀

Leenotler - Up until now, all of my pictures have had plain white backgrounds, so I used photoshop to try and brighten it up a bit this time. As for what you said about one sock on, one sock off, that was the effect I was hoping for. 🙂

LBH - Thank you! 😀 I've never tried an insert before, but I thought with this particular pic, it was necessary to get the most out of the scene.

Vlad - Spot on. 😀 That's the exact scene I had in mind when I started this pic (although I don't know the words as well as you 😛 I just had the first three lines or so in my head).

nice pic, i love the Love Hina anime, it was in Japanese though so i had to read the subtitles, Shinobu is my fav, she so shy and innocent and abowable.
