What kind do you suggest?

Depends on how you like your ink to flow, but felt pens are strongly recommended.
Unless you know how to use ball-points to do fine shading.

I'm currently using a thin felt pen for basic lines and detail work, a permanent marker for bolder lines and shadows, and a kids' markers when I'm feeling lazy, or I want an easier time over larger figures.
Consider this: the thinner and harder the point, the longer and taxing your job gets.

Same thing with pencils, if you'd rather stick with them: softer stuff helps when jotting down basic shapes, while harder/stiffer points define lines and details.

...

Can't suggest individual brands: I use what I can come by.

🙂

I use the Koh I Nor Rapidographs.

They're a bitch to clean, but you get a great smooooooooth line. Given your skill with curve, I would actually suggest you ink with a brush. Try the Winsor Newton Series Seven Sable brushes. I use them more than the pens now.

They are very expensive, but start with one of them. And TAKE CARE OF IT, and it will last forever.

Your work rocks, it deserves to be inked.

btw, my semester has officially started, and it's my last one so I have a lot to finish up, so I don't think the ink will be happening soon.
