today I was browsing some true crime websites reading about serial killers (erm... anyway...) and I ran across a book that was based on one of the cases called "Let's go play at the Adams'" by Mendal Johnson. As the case itself intrigued me, I did a little research on the book and found A) a bunch of glowing reviews of it being an incredible work of horror fiction, and B) a cult following composed mostly of BSDMers who appreciate the book in "other" ways. I love horror fiction, and found a copy for sale (it's out of print now), so I ordered it, but I'm curious; the book's plot is essentially about a bunch of kids who tie up and torture their babysitter, but I couldn't find much other information.

I know our community has a lot of BSDMers in it, so... has anyone here heard of/read this book? Is our "favorite pasttime" mentioned anywhere at all? I won't be disappointed if it's not, I'm still dang curious to read it, but I would like to know ahead of time (it may take two weeks to be delivered).

thanks in advance.

I read this book in the 1970's when it was first pubished. I do not recommend it. Your synopsis of the plot is accurate, and there isn't much else to say, the whole book is about what they do to the babysitter after they choloroform her and tie her up. They keep her in bondage for days.

But whatever erotic potential is developed is overwhelmed by the horrible, painful torture and murder towards the end of the book. It made me literally ill to read it--I vomited.

That's certainly a ringing enough endorsement for me! Sounds like this book belongs back in the files...preferably circular ones.

welp, I'll know for sure in a week or two, I guess. There've been some pretty disturbing books I've read in the past that I still considered a good read because of the execution of the story. Only time will tell if this is the case, here... but the main reason I asked about it was to see if there was any tickling involved. Judging from your responses, I doubt it. 🙂
