Question:
I just opened the new "look" of BlogTalkRadio and tried to play a show. My player doesn't work. Can anyone tell me is this a glitch and who can I get to fix it.
Thanks
Answer:
I've been searching for a fix for over a month and finally found it a couple days ago. Thanks to Pandora.com as it was their FAQ tech tips that fixed the problem in this and many other websites for me. Below is a slightly modified version of their suggested fix.
The problem lies with the default settings in the Adobe Flash 10 Player.
First go to the Adobe Online Flash Settings Manager. This link will show you your web browser's actual global Flash configuration settings. Note: It may take a few seconds to load.
1) Begin with the 'Global Privacy Settings' tab, the box in the upper left corner of the manager. Click on it and select "Always Ask".
2) Then click on the second tab, 'Global Storage Settings', which has an icon featuring a file folder superimposed on a globe. From here, make sure the "allow third party Flash content to store data on your computer" checkbox is checked. Next, drag the slider above that checkbox up to "100k" or higher.
3) Next, click the tab immediately to the right (the icon has a lock superimposed on a globe), which is 'Global Security Settings.' From here, select the "Always ask" option.
4) Next, click the tab to the far right (the icon has a file folder and a green arrow), which is the 'Website Storage Settings.' From here, click the "Websites" column header to alphabetize the list. If you find a "www.blogtalkradio.com" entry, click on it to highlight it, then click the "Delete website" button. If there is no entry for "www.blogtalkradio.com" then you may proceed.
5) Finally, click back to each of the first three tabs listed above and carefully verify the settings on each one. Do not skip this step!
Once you've done this, restart your browser [or reboot your computer], then go back to www.blogtalkradio.com and click on any "On Air" channel to see if you can hear sound now. That should do it!
