? for those that make or buy video clips

Was wondering about free samples. I don't know about you guys, but if there's no free preview, I don't typically buy the clip. Sometimes on clips4sale there is a 10 second preview, but a lot of the time, that's not enough for me to know that I might enjoy the other 6 minutes or more. I buy a lot of shyandwild's stuff because he has good previews, and when I like what I see, there's a good chance the rest of it will be good. I don't buy realtickling anymore because now their previews are like 15 seconds long.

Was wondering your opinion, and if you a producer, what you're luck has been with clips that have previews compared to no previews. Consider it a free market survey!

I have never tryed releasing something without a preview, so I don't know what the difference would be. But I do however think the same way you do. I never buy clips unless there is a good preview. Normaly a picture says more than a thousand words...but thats not the fact when it comes to tickling videos.

I don't release videos without issuing a preview clip at least a couple days prior.

Well, I think a lot of the "no preview" places do that because they don't have stuff that's all that great. Not all but I think that's the main reason.

The big problem with the 10 second preview is often, they're not showing the tickling. Dunno how many times I've checked the preview to see somebody walking around the girl who's tied up. Or they'll show a breath break. Or just talking. That tells me nothing about how good or bad the video is.

Personally I think a good preview runs about 30-45 seconds. No more than a minute fifteen. It should run at least 15 seconds between cuts. Otherwise I feel like the editor was hopped on on sugar and caffeine when cutting the preview. Too jerky. That gives it smoothness, and a good opportunity to actually see what you're going to buy.

I have to say, all valid opinions. We try to put out previews that are 20-30 seconds. Anything longer than that makes the file too large and they can't be uploaded to TMF. We just started messing with using Real Media for previews. That allows for 60 second previews in 1280x720 for a fraction of what a 640x480 .wmv would take up.

I agree that trailers are essential in our saturated, but small market. We all have different taste, and a minute preview can be extremely helpful to customers. They are a pain to edit and promote, but with so much competition out there, its worth the extra work. It also helps when you are recruiting other models so they can see what they are getting into. Hence, why I have over 32 previews (over 30 free minutes of tickling;all of them over 35 seconds) at my main site.

I should point out that the reasonable duration of a preview depends on the duration of the full-length clip. A preview that's 1 or 2 minutes long is fine for a clip that covers an entire shoot, for instance, or at least a fairly long scene. But if a producer tends to sell individual scenes that are, say, 5 to 7 minutes long, then a preview that's over 1 minute, or even that long, reveals too much of the product. Potential customers would be much less likely to buy the full product. But something around 30 seconds is pretty good, as long as not too much of it is made up of introduction material, credits, etc. Personally, most of my previews are around 25 or 30 seconds, and they represent clips that are from 5 to 10 minutes long. Only 3 seconds of each preview is title or copyright info. After I've released an entire series, I offer a preview that covers the whole thing, usually between 60 and 80 seconds.

I could make my previews a little longer, but like someone else mentioned, I need to limit their size so that I can upload them to the TMF.

Anyway, I just wanted to say that one can't always compare the typical length of two producers' previews because the length of their products can be very different.

As for the C4S previews, I don't use them. Ten seconds is simply too short. I also don't know how flexible the system is when it comes to choosing the segment to be shown. Do the producers even have control over it? If the system automatically selects the middle 10 seconds, for instance, then it's entirely possible that the segment shows a little break in the action, making the preview virtually worthless, despite the clip being very good as a whole.
