Because sometimes it's fun? On this one scale model website I am a member of there was a troll who called himself Uday I thought his posts were hilarious to read He got banned after awhile He was a very bad speller But man oh man what a riot to read his posts and the replies

I've recently been reprimanded for feeding a troll. I deserved it. By feeding the troll, I was actually giving him the attention he was craving. Better to let those useless threads die. Hopefully the troll will leave once the spotlight is no longer on him.

Well, maybe sometimes it's in fun, but it seems like people often post serious replies to the stuff. I think you can guess which particular thread I'm talking about.

however lots of people think its more fun to be sanctimonious over it which is okay because being holier than thou about your opinions is an intrinsic aspect of humanity

I miss the trolls. They make forums way more interesting. They are fun to humiliate and embarrass pubicly. Killing them through controlled censorship was kind of like resorting to nuclear weapons in a war. It did the job, but there's still a lot of fallout.

There are still plenty of places around the internet where you can find feral trolls living in their natural habitat 🙂

How about, instead of feeding the trolls further with threads that ask why we feed the trolls...

My guess it's the one about asking strange women in public if they are ticklish.

I think more often than not it's the serious-replying people that make the problem worse. If one or two well-centered people take someone to task, ok-go; but if 15 additional posts reflect the same righteous outrage that has already been brought up to a total stranger about a hypothetical situation on a fringe element adults-only website, by comparison the troll looks more and more like he might be a good drinking buddy.

I hope my point isn't being misunderstood; I'm not so much against trolls, just wonder why some people don't just ignore them or have fun with them as drew said.

Some people just need a little more excitement in their day to feel satisfied. I am one of those people.
