I went to French Tickling site today on two different PC's and was hacked by several viruses and a trojan horse!!!!

No lie. I am a member. Everytime I log in it detects a virus and deletes it. By it, I mean Norton Anti Virus.

ditto

My Norton AV flagged a few viruses also.

I dunno what they did to their page since last week, but it'd be good if they undid it....lest they want folks to stop visiting their site altogether.

Thanks for the heads up. I was intending to visit the site today. Has anyone notified the site owners yet?

I am glad to see I wasn't the only one. My virus protection causght it big time. I have Trend Micro PC Cillin.

it'd be really nice if you guys could name the virus that you got infected with

but i am left to believe that it has something to do with the javascript code within the page

just some friendly advice

consider a mac.... you just don't have to worry about ANY of this garbage.

True, but Macs are way too expensive.... I have to agree with shire on this one. Firefox is the way to go -- along with a well designed firewall.

The virus is...

It installs the following:

From Symantec
Trojan.ByteVerify is a Trojan Horse that exploits the vulnerability described in Microsoft Security Bulletin MS03-011 and could provide a hacker the ability to run arbitrary code on an infected system.

Also Known As: Exploit-ByteVerify [McAfee], Exploit.Java.Bytverify [KAV], JAVA_BYTVERIFY.A [Trend]

i'm not trying to turn this into a computer platform thread... i swear.

do you drive the cheapest car? Do you buy the crappiest coffee? Or the TV with the worst picture? I know that my computer is probably my most important appliance and I'll gladly pay a little more to NOT worry about spyware and virus' hosing my drive. I'm sorry but my computer is too important to me to go the cheapest route. Windoze pc's are practically disposable...

Dude.. You get a lot more for your money with a PC, and Macs have very little third party support. Try finding a decent game or business application for a Mac: you have a lot less choices to pick from when it comes to the Mac format. Lastly, you can't really build your own Mac. As a friend of mine puts it, "never trust a computer you can't gut for parts."

Macs are great if you have the cash to spare, you don't mind having less programs to work with, and if you aren't very computer literate. They're very user-friendly compared to PCs, but if you're into any kind of IT work, or if you want to play the best and most visually impressive games, then you're gonna need a PC.

(Hijacking threads can be fun, see? 😉 )

since we're hijacking...

those are antiquated notions of the mac platform. Games, software of any quality- it's all available. Video performance blows PC's away. Those are all old complaints from the 90's.

Don't believe me? check any mossberg review of a mac computer at WSJ over the last 3 years. And, IT guys buy PC's because it justifies their employment. Everyone knows it who has anything to do with IT spending. Those guys LOVE windows for that reason. It's horrific.

This'll be my last comment on this thread. It was orginally about virus'- which again I don't have to worry about. that was my original point and I'll just drive it home once more.

Amazing that the person who advertises French Tickling has not responded to this issue.

if they haven't rsponded or done anything they may be the cause of it!!!!! People who don't have a good virus protection can have their pc's taken over by an outsider and personal info captured. Perhaps the situation is on purpose.

He has, over in the links section. I have since opened the site and the problem has not recurred. On the other hand, I also havn't been able to access the members area and have sent an e-mail to that effect.
Hopefully it will be resolved shortly.

There is also a post from him in thiss section under JANA which explains why the dilema is happening.
