Anyway, at this point we're debating semantics; all it boils down to is that some people on this site don't like the word fetish; it drums up connotations of creepy and weird (though having seen some of the topics on these boards, I sometimes think it's an entirely appropritate label 😎)

I rarely refer to my love of tickling as a fetish; I have done, and still do occasionally. But it depends on who I'm talking to, and whether they'll take the word fetish in a bad way or not (most often, they don't). I might call it a kink, or interest, or whatever. It doesn't matter what I call it, because the bottom line is that it turns me on. That is what people are going to take issue with, if they take issue at all that is.

Besides, tickling partialism is such a shit name for a kink.

if one must call it anything (and the word "fetish" actually doesn't bother me in the least), i think "philia" is a more proper term. by definition, having a philia is to have a tendency toward or an attraction to, which seems more fitting to me.

not everyone who loves tickling is unable to receive sexual gratification without it, as many of these other terms imply. tickling does turn me on, but i'm perfectly capable of being fulfilled without tickling. not all of my sexual encounters involve tickling, as i'm sure is true for a lot of other people here, but a lack of tickling doesn't keep me from performing properly or getting gratification from it.

i don't really give a rat's ass what it's called, personally. it's no less fun to me as a fetish than it is as a bunny. 😉

Personally, I just think that "fetish" has become somewhat of a fashion word. Most people hear "fetish" and thing of bondage, leather, everything out of the ordinary. Basically something that just a group of people thinks of as being sexual.

Nobody thinks of the pathological definition of fetish, which would be only being able to be sexually excited by the fetish itself, and I really don't think there are a whole lot of people with that problem.
