"Fungi and Fun Gals", a Cartoon Tickler tribute (F/F, foot; **/FF, feet, underarm).

After the Katie/Chewy cameo appearance in Chapter 7 of my ongoing comix series "Tales From the Low Roads", the Cartoon Tickler suggested that it might be fun to learn how our willowy blonde heroine came to find herself so desperately threatened in the Gloominvald. I heartily agreed... who wouldn't jump at the chance to spend more time with lovely Katie, or wield the fiendishly ravenous Chewy! Here, then, is the backstory... watch sharp for a further much-loved favorite (a mischievously sadisitic red-head) along for the ride.

Very neat, A1! Thanks so much for saying so! I'd love to be known as the tickle world's Edgar Allan Poe (not likely, though, as Journia's got that title sown up!)... most of my writing assumes a creepy tone, and I'm pleased that fetish material can adapt to it without much compromise. And, of course, C_tickler has put these characters through scads of teasingly ghoulish adventures already (can't get much more dire than "Land of the Ticklish"!)... such harrowing proceedings are nothing new to them!

Thanks for all the compliments, Sammi! :super_hap I was really eager to try my hand at some psychedelia (this is as close to Peter Max as I'll likely ever come)... a pleasantly freed-up change from the tacked-down architecture and landscapes I usually draw.

Of course, I love where it all ended up. And Hayley is starting to scare me. The lengths she'd go to just to tickle Katie into madness. What a friend. 😉

I've always found Hayley's manic, monomaniacal appetite highly appealing (she's the girl you love to punish! Likewise, seeing the guileless Katie in her merciless grasp is always fun!) I was most keen to take a turn at sending her into hysterics, if only through a sawed-off mushroom surrogate!

I'll go ahead and assume they escape Chewy's clutches for now. Otherwise they couldn't get in more trouble later. n_n

Lots of folks have ended up in Chewy's maw over the years... Katie's been in his clutches more than once, I believe. Either it's never proved fatal (who knows what giggly experiences take place inside that spacious gut!), or it has proved fatal multiple times! Only the foolhardy question the tormenting tactics of Chewy!

Tickling and shrooms. Excellent combination. Yessir. I love it.

Thanks Paulie! Getting loaded is an atypical theme for me, which is why I figured it would work well in this limited, separate context (something off the beaten track). In a way, tickling and intoxication are both giddy, mind-altering events... mixing them seemed both natural and exciting!

Comin' they shall keep, especially when I have an opportunity to work with the wonderful inspiration from others' fertile imaginations as well as my own! Chewy is indeed one of the all-time classic 'lers! And he's so much fun to draw, such a fine design! CT's created a supremely potent gang of iconic tickle fiends, and it's been my fond pleasure to spend so much time in their company!

It's long been a favorite fantasy to personally compel the delicious Hayley into squealing repentance (and beyond!) for her perpetually naughty behavior... who hasn't had the same craving! I'm so pleased that C_tickler's given me the chance to fulfill that dream and to share it!

Ironically littlebighead, that is not the first time I have been called that, or even alluded to it. It is ironic, because the first time I was mentioned as a "Poe" was when I wrote a story far more gruesome than any murder. My story actually proves a lighthearted bout along my mind.

CT, it's been a mighty privilege to spend so much time with your Katie, Hayley and Chewy! My thanks to you, not only for creating such wonderful characters to begin with and for suggesting this project, but for your ongoing advice and encouragement throughout its creation! On so many levels, it could never have been done without you! I look forward to all the C_tickler adventures to come (I'm heading straight for the next chapter of "Tickled Raider's" right after this, in fact!), and pray for many, many more years with the lovely Katie and her jolly pals!

Yes, it was a cruel trick to play on our little mushroom pal... but the greater the outrage, the more satisfying the vengeance! Plus, I believe that plants heal more quickly and easily than animals do; also, I think they feel less pain (a mighty convenient belief system, considering the wringer I ran him through!) Anyways, thanks very much, RTL! I deeply appreciate it when people note the subtleties I attempt to include; it makes the effort so worthwhile!

Incidentally, the Mad Cap Mushroom will be back for Chapter 8 of the regular Low Roads (still throbbing and aching for action against the hapless Mercy! I'm afraid he still has some fury to expend, and Miss Mew will be the undeserving luckless target!)

Thank you, Kopfhorer! I'm deeply flattered by any comparison to Robert Crumb... his blend of trippy, stylized/down-to-earth imagery leaves an impression that lasts a lifetime! And you're so right about his depiction of the female form... it's so real, so sensual; the antithesis of the idealized, untried, freshly-pubescent body types so common in anime/manga. Now I don't dislike anime style (it has managed to codify itself into the very embodiment of cuteness; who doesn't love cute!), but such unattainable perfection tends to trip a bit far from sweaty reality for my taste. Anyone can attract with tapered, wide-eyed kitties and puppy dogs; far trickier (and more satisfying!) to enthrall with robust, hip-heavy temptresses such as Devil Girl, Andrea Ostrich and Angelfood McSpade!

You've managed to capture just the right atmosphere in every scene; from the retro-comic title page (a great tribute to the 50's-60's!) to the tripping hallucinations of the forest. And the latter scenes were great, possible the most believable hallucination scenes I've ever seen in a comic. Everything is just a little bit exagerated. Like in that panel where hayley towers over the spaced-out katie almost monstrously grinning. I also like how you have adapted c_tickler's characters to your own style ( just like you did with my Kitzalia and her henchmen) They really seem to belong in the comic universe you've created. They've become a little bit grittier, as kopfhorer said; more Crumb-ier. 🙂
Finally, I would agree that someone should publish your comics in print. I for sure would buy them. Your work got to be amongst the literature of tickling! 🙂

As always, Scav, you're so on top of so many of the things I'd hope to accomplish! (why do I sound surprised! As one of the most stellar of our Community's stellar talents, you understand these motivations and techniques better than most of us ever will!) The title page was indeed meant to harken back to the days of 10-cent comix (as an EC fan, I love all their stuff, even the romance titles, which this sort-of resembles. Considering Hayley's barely concealed ardor, it seemed fitting). And I'm so pleased you made special mention of looming Hayley on page 5! I particularly wanted that picture to work (it was a money-shot, of sorts, an establishing image to set up the hallucinatory pages)!

As with every artist's characters I've been lucky enough to adapt (the ferocious Kitazlia more than once!), learning to draw Katie, Hayley and Chewy has proved a fun, satisfying, educating experience! I have you to thank for that... it was your superb "World's Collide" series that first prompted me to try my hand! It has proved so worthwhile! Tabor County is a pretty insular landscape... these touches of a grander universe (with its myriad wonderful talents and personalities) make it a hundred times more potent and relevant than it could otherwise be!
