Funniest Movies Ever Made

WraithTickler said:
Since I'm sure no one's mentioned them yet, I'll nominate some of the Marx Bros. movies.

..... now I KNOW I'm being ignored!

Oops. Sorry about that. 😀

Just goes to show the merits of reading a thread before posting....

I saw this thread a few days ago, and thought no movie I've seen meets the criteria... but after a discussion with some buddies today, I think "Christmas Story" comes the closest. The entire sequence from dad trying to sneak a slice of turkey, through the dinner at the Chinese restaurant - "HOOOO HOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOO" - and of course "I shot my eye out!"

Honorable mention goes out to Eddie Murphy's "Nutty Professor".

I'll list some of The Marx Brothers films. For me, the best were:
Monkey Business
Horse Feathers
Duck Soup
Night at the Opera

the rest were the same storylines and formula rehashed...but had bright moments. Even "Love Happy" which is often regarded as their worse film, had some good qualities cause they finally got away from putting the team in a comical surrounding with a love interest. Harpo was the lead character in this one.

and now.....as for what I think are the funniest.....which I laughed out loud at:

Best in Show
Meet the Parents
Smokey and the Bandit
Dumb and Dumber
There's Something About Mary
National Lampoon's Animal House
The Blues Brothers Movie

and the all-time classic:

Monty Python and the Holy Grail!

NEE!

Drew

Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Hands-down one of the most brilliant pieces of comedy ever produced. Surreal, smart, quick-moving, innovative... you name it, they did it right.

Kung Pow: Enter the Fist. C'mon, there was a kung fu fight with a COW! They even used bullet...err, milk-squirt time! But the scene that *really* got me in pain was the intro. The Chosen One, still a baby, is rolling down a rocky hill to escape Master Pain. First of all, he's making vibrating "ah-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h" noises as he bounces along, which is funny enough... but then, he rolls to a stop at the feet of a peasant woman, who picks him up and kisses him, saying, "So cute!". So you think the lady's going to take him home and raise him, as always happens in these movies, right?

Well, no. She turns, and with a perky "bye-bye!" rolls him right on down the hill.

It killed me. Seriously.

Rat Race. Amazing cast, great jokes, even some subtle stuff. Rowan Atkinson *and* John Cleese in the same movie? oh my.

"It's a race! I'm wee-neeng!"

Hot Shots! (and Part Deux) and Scary Movie - I love the parody films where everyone keeps a straight face as everything is just going completely to hell all around them.
