Gargalesis (Do We Not Laugh?) Art installation */F.

This is an art installation from an artist called Kristan Saloky. It's from 2011 but I don't think I have seen it posted here before. I can't find any other information about it so it's not certain whether someone is actually tickling her or if she is acting. But she is doing a pretty good job if she is.

Both videos are more or less the same but one is longer than the other.

Despite the pain often resulting from gargalesis, or heavy tickling, laughter is the natural bodily response. The bodily response to tickling is unique because it cannot be reproduced without the involvement of another. In Gargalesis (Do We Not Laugh?), however, the site of transgression is removed from the spectacle of the installation.

I find that extremely hot for some reason. I wonder what was in her mind when she conceived that project. With artists you can never be sure, is there a fetish agenda, or did she (in her artsy inner musings) just innocently stumble into this as being a part of the human experience worth highlighting?

I like it! Especially the screen devoted to her wriggling bare feet as she is presumably subjected to upper body tickling. 😀
