So, I've done several searches and it seems like there's not been a thread on this topic in at least two years...and well, with the release of Pokemon Heart Gold and Soul Silver, I'm wondering how many people here are a fan of the games?

Personally...I'm a self described "Pokefag" as it were. I haven't been as excited about a game as I was when I went to purchase Heart Gold on release. I am just enjoying it so much.

So...that's an introduction, anyone else interested in the games? How about other media such as the various manga or the anime? I'm not afraid to say I don't like the anime at all, but the manga is actually pretty cool. Still, I tend to adhere to the canon of the games.

As I write this, I'm currently taking on Team Rocket in HeartGold, I'm trying to make it tougher than it could be doing a no grind run. I only fight trainers, not wild pokemon (except to capture them). I also have a tendency to get WAY to into the "role-playing" part. I really create a story for my character, since the game is relatively blank. As a result, Mariane is too attached to her Chikorita to let her evolve. So I've got a level 35 Chikorita, and I don't intend to evolve her.

So yeah...I'm running out of things to say, so um...if anyone's interested, here's my HG team thus far:

Blossom- Chikorita Lvl 35 (Female)
Balthazar- Quagsire Lvl 31 (Male)
Gregory- Noctowl Lvl 30 (Male)
Elliot- Ariados Lvl 30 (Female)
Charles- Charmeleon Lvl 30 (Male)
Rocky- Onix Lvl 30 (Male)

The Onix is the one you get from the in-game trade and Charles is a shiny Charmeleon from a friend of mine.

I would have bought Heart Gold but one thing is stopping me: Whether or not I can trade Pokemon with the game itself. I don't have a DS Lite and thus I can't go online to fight/trade with other people (at least my DS won't do it for me). I gotta admit, I thought that was such a dick move to pull...making some Pokemon unable to evolve unless you trade them with someone else...greedy bastards...

I'm right with ya DeusExProcella. I'm also a "Poke-fag" and proud of it lol. I don't know how many hours I've spent per game trying to figure out the perfect team per region

Well the premise of the game is teamwork and cooperation. Trading has been essential from the very beginning because it's a core function of the game design. I could always go online on my DS Fat though :\ I'm assuming that's what you have, the gen 1 DS. If you have a wireless access point, your DS version shouldn't matter.
