General question about fetlife.com

How are the privacy controls on it? I want to get a profile and put a pic of myself on it but not as a defalt pic. Can I set it so that only friends view my profile pics or can anyview the pics I post. I'm a teacher and as much as I would love to post a pic up here, I keep coming back to the idea that I was serching out my fetish on the net when I was 14. All I need is for this to get out if anyone I know finds it. Still I got to get real. People prefer profiles with face pics. Any information anybody can give me would be greatly appreciated.

you're correct that people do prefer profiles with pics. however, if in your profile you mention your need for discretion and willingness to provide a pic once you get to know someone via pm, i'm sure most folks would understand. having a robust profile is probably one of the most important issues. i also think honesty is more valuable than having a face pic up front. i would suggest, however, that you have some type of pic rather than a black box with a big "?"

unlike tmf which shows up in google searches, you can only access fetlife if you have an account. however, once you have an account, there are currently no further privacy options in place. you can post pics and choose which one will be your default pic. so for example, you could include a pic that doesn't include your face or any part of you and have that be your default pic with a face pic included once someone took the time to look at your pictures.

it's important to remember that fetlife is still very young and is continuing to add features and functionality. it is designed to be social networking site, so you can't and won't ever have the option of searching for folks the way you would on a dating site.

fetlife is a great site. i hope you find a way to make it work for you. 🙂

Is not really necessary to have a pic. I would recommend save the face/body pics for those that become friends with, "good" friends, more on need to see basis.
