Last night someone talked to me online and told me I'm possibly not cut out to be an artist, but I don't believe that. Granted I may have been a late starter, but having been working at it since 22 (albeit off and on at first) I feel that I'm getting somewhere. I figure it's only another year or so before I start churning out quality pictures.

My problem, though, is getting some of the shapes down, like drawing arms and shaping circular shapes right. Any suggestions, like how to hold the pencil, whether to use just my hand or my whole arm?

That is someone's opinion. The opinion is not helpful. I have to admit that I started drawing at tender age and up now can't still claim anything more than I can do in arts. Still I am not contented, but it doesn't mean that I am unhappy with the struggle. It will take my whole life to get its knack and the only thing that keeps me going is the passion. I'm too driven that I will smash every opinion and prove them wrong. And if I am not perfect, there is always a room for improvement. I will take the step to improvement.

It is tough to learn how to draw. I burn all my brows up to now so I can enjoy even just a piece of Art's atom. I love every pain and bullshit of it.

If you stop now, the more you won't have any milestone. If you stop now, the world of arts will not find you. You have to pick up the rakes and work hard for it.

Take life drawing classes. As many as you can. Even if you feel like your drawings are getting worse, you will slowly start to understand how to quickly draw an arm, or a gesture, or a shape that you had so much difficulty with before you started.

You'll learn how to place weight in your photos, reflected light, drawing a mass shape instead of just lines... I've always loved it. Just keep drawing. Even if that person is right, and you aren't cut out to be an artist (not that i'm agreeing whatsoever) you could be cut out to be an artist in a few years with practice. Everyone improves.

Good luck.

I know several artists who've had serious ups and downs, just like this. All the ones who wanted to have shaken it off and are wildly successful for their age. My point? Fuck the naysayers, if you want to continue, continue. You'll only get better.

If it is of any solace to you, somebody told me the same when I was younger.
In my face.
Suggesting I went and ripped my stuff to shreds.

I can only provide so much practical advice.
Remember this though: genius is 1% inspiration, 99% perspiration.

I am hoping to take a drawing class next month. But thanks guys.

For now, I just wish I could get some of these shapes right...
