When you download a video clip online. How do you save a part of that video clip that plays so you can convert it into a Gif image to use online (for like forums)? Is that possible to even do? And if so then how do you do it or what program do you need to use for it?

Thanks in advance

I do it with MPGS...with animation shop which is a part of Paint shop pro...some avi's will work with it as well, but I haven't had much luck with other formats...the problem with using them online afterwards is the size of the file involved...we have size restraints here on signature pics for example that are necessary in order to make it easy for all members to view threads without waiting for a long time for the thread to finish loading.

There is also the matter of copyright infringements that make it a no-no to use copyrighted materials for our own purposes.....

Hope this helps...

Ray

Yeah i didn't really think about copyright laws on video clips. Thanks for all the heads up and advice. So i guess it is just best that i just try not to make Gifs out of clips that i downloaded online. I will just stick to Gifs that are all ready online that people have made i guess.

Lots of help Venray

ps. if its not on the this website all ready. i would suggest putting the signature limits somewhere on this website! for NEW members and old members to take a look at
