Howdy folks. It's getting close to that time of year where I am looking into planning the second annual GLAT Gathering in Wisconsin.
Lazarus and I have some issues on our end to work out yet before I can guarantee that we will absolutely be hosting it as planned, but in the meantime, I want to see what kind of interest the gathering will generate before I bust my rear end over planning it again...lol.
We are currently looking at the weekend of May 7-9th, most likely. We are also looking at going a different route this year as well, with hosting grounds. I had originally looked into private lakeside rentals, but last year wound up resorting to hotel suites instead. This year, I really would like to go back to considering the private lakeside rentals. We'd have much more privacy, and a TON more playing space. It was simply too cramped last year. The downside, though, is that in order to go the private rental route, we would be looking at hosting it in Wisconsin Dells, as opposed to Milwaukee. That would mean 2 hours more travel time for those of you coming from states south of WI.
Anyway, what I would like to know from YOU guys, is how many of you may be interested in attending this year? I know most of you from last years event had stated you would definitely plan on attending this years event, but with the change in location, and also possible change in interest, you may have decided otherwise. There have also been many others who contacted me after last years event, stating they would love to come this year if we decided to go through with hosting one again. But I have already seen many of them back out of those statements now that the time is drawing near. I also really want a better M/F ratio this year, if at all possible.
So, those of you who think you may want to come, please either give a shout out in this thread, or email me at [email protected] to let me know. Honestly, I am not going to go through the effort of planning it if I do not get enough potential attendee interest. I'd hate to see it come to that, but I have to put several hundred dollars down upfront on the rentals, that is NOT refundable, in order to reserve them, and I would just as soon not flush that much money down the drains due to lack of interest. I think all of you can understand that.
So please let me know asap if you think you may want to attend this year. If I get enough interest generated, and Lazarus and I are able to work out our issues, I'll go ahead with planning the GLAT gathering as scheduled. I look forward to hopefully hearing from some of you. Thanks a lot!
