.......good news first; I have just been reading that the wheels have finally come off the Rap bandwagon, it seems folks are fed up with overgrown playground bullies shouting down microphones about "ho's" and "bitches". It seems foul language,guns, and gangland violence dressed up as "Art" and packaged for sale to gullible spotty teenagers is no longer raking in the cash.

Suddenly the bottom has fallen out of the market for this now banal over hyped over rated tosh. It seems people are waking up to the fact that the Emperor has no clothes on, "bling" is now bollocks,rap is now crap and fifty cent is now a dime.

.....the bad news?.....er..........nope, cant think of any at all!

You know Red, their are many different types of rap. I'm not a big fan of rap myself, but have found some pretty decent rap songs out there that involve none of the things you meantion.

Finally, if the genre is declining (big if there, given the "I've just heard") it's for the same reasons that punk, grunge, indie, britpop etc declined. Because the initial art and passion have been replaced by the greed of the record industry offering commercialised lowest common denominator nonsense like 50cent

Yeah, pop-rap blows donkey, but rock isn't doing much better. Look at all these pansy bands on Fuse nowadays. ALL music sales are down, so hip-hop sales will be declining right along with it. People aren't buying albums because they're tired of

You know Red, their are many different types of rap. I'm not a big fan of rap myself, but have found some pretty decent rap songs out there that involve none of the things you meantion.

Actually, yes Cosmo is right, I can say I'm a lover of hip hop and R&B music and yes some rap as well and believe it or not I used to listen to Christian Rap back in high school *gasp* imagine that some positive out of something some hate so much. You can find terrible lyrics and bad messages in any kind of music.

Well, if there is one place to do it, that would be a thread specifically created for it, non? It's difficult to make a generalisation about one song.

Besides, didn't say it was illegal. Just seems slightly pointless. Your post implies that this musical genre is being forced upon you, and that its decline is in some way beneficial.

Forced on me? well yes, but to be fair a lot less lately thank god. This stuff has been like cow shit for a number of years i.e. (all over the place) in pubs, clubs, radio, TV, shops, and so on.

this is really some sad shit.....people, for crying out loud, is there anything else on this planet that you can focus your pure hatred on besides a genre of music that millions of people love? Shouldn't all this "energy" be wasted on criminals who kill little kids? On people who perform heinous crimes such as murder and rape? Shouldn't you have all this pent up frustration and hatred towards individuals who are taking the lives of others for no real good reason?

Shouldn't you focus you energy on why there are hungry people on this planet? How about the fact that there is poverty and racism? No, we get silly people starting threads about a genre of music that they do not like. Big fucking deal, you do not like rap. But is it that hard to just not like the music, but RESPECT the people who do? Music, in ANY form, is soothing to person's soul. I am not a fan of punk or metal, but you are not going to see me start threads about how the human race will benefit from the demise of punk music.

I guess people have no respect for another's culture. Let's be real. There is a LARGE population of people who like rap and enjoy it everytime they hear it. As for the wheels coming off the rap bandwagon, that's good. Most of the shite that is commercially successful, especially in the UK, deserves to go straight in the bin and most of the rappers who were actually entertaining (Roots Manuva, Chali 2na and folk like thems) were never all that commercially successful anyways.
