Good news and bad news for Rap "artists"....

red indian said:
.......good news first; I have just been reading that the wheels have finally come off the Rap bandwagon, it seems folks are fed up with overgrown playground bullies shouting down microphones about "ho's" and "bitches". It seems foul language, guns, and gangland violence dressed up as "Art" and packaged for sale to gullible spotty teenagers is no longer raking in the cash.

Suddenly the bottom has fallen out of the market for this now banal over hyped over rated tosh. It seems people are waking up to the fact that the Emperor has no clothes on, "bling" is now bollocks, rap is now crap and fifty cent is now a dime.

.....the bad news?.....er..........nope, cant think of any at all!

And I was just recovering from the deja vu I was experiencing on another thread in Tickling discussion.

My suggestion to hip hop fans is to just not respond. It is the same few individuals with the same remarks every time. And every time they type something, and you respond it just gets worse and more out of control. If you are new and/ or dont believe me, do a quick search and you will find countless threads like this.

Just let people say what they feel. It doesnt make the music any worse simply because a handful of people at a fetish website do not enjoy it..or even if all 49,999 of them dont like it and you are the only one. It doesnt matter. Its not going anywhere. The person who started this thread read an article, and decided to post it and take a few jabs here and there. The genre will not be shutdown; that threat has been going on since I bought my first hip hop tape in the mid 80's....and now the genre's winning best Soundtrack Academy awards. So its presence is definitely here, and likely will not be going anywhere any time soon.

Another reason I wouldnt respond is because, frankly, hip hop fans can be shit on in here and no one would care. If you dont believe me, I reference my first paragraph (do a quick search). The most immature dribble that breaks the "Golden Rule" code can be said in a personal attack in one of these threads, and it will go by without so much as a raised eyebrow. As someone already mentioned, this thread appears about once every 3 months, and it always go down the same. Hip hop fans get pissed and shit on for multiple pages, and then the thread drops to page two of this forum and it gets buried. The mods dont appear to mind, the members for the most part dont care, and the hip hop fans get to wait around a few months for the next scat storm. Why put yourself through the silliness...

My suggestions...just ignore it. If your favorite hip hop artist dies, dont post a RIP thread in here. You like a new album or song...dont mention it here. Pretend it doesnt exist. Then, when a thread like this gets started, everyone can fling there insults around to each other, it goes 6 posts instead of 6 pages, and another pressing subject will come up. It really is that easy. How about sharing how much you enjoy the music at a hip hop message board? PM each other. Anything else but arguing here...because its senseless and pointless. Its a battle that isnt worth waging....not on a fetish board. Hell, dont even respond to my post. Let it end right here; dont even post in here that you agree with me. I mean, if people think they can shutdown hip hop (or any other form of expression) by flexing nuts in here at the TMF, then let them think it.

I agree with most of this...... one of the things that suprises me is that many here who disparage rap, including the maker of this thread, would be ardent defenders of their preferred music if it came under such ignorant attack.

There is an HBO series that features urban poets, hosted by hip hop producer Russel Simmons and rapper "Mos Def"....

Many rap artists are featured on the show, as well as the street poets. If you were to get on stage and say," I hate rap because of the violent and mysoginistic lyrics", most of the cosmopolitan audience ranging from teens to late sixties, would look at you in disbelief of your embarrassing and blatant public display of ignorance, just as I would be exposing my ignorance if I stupidly said" I hate rock music because eric clapton sang a song saying that cocaine would wipe all of your troubles away, so rock glorifies cocaine use".....or, "I hate jazz because yardbird Parker was a heroin addict and got into fights at the clubs he performed in"....my statements would be stupid, blatant displays of ignorance of the genres, and rightfully seen as stupid statements.....

At least attack rap, or any other art form, from an informed, and less ignorant position, if you plan to be taken seriously..... :illogical
