Dell have sent an internal memo to their staff telling them not to aid their customers in the removal of spyware from their systems as it could conflict with user license agreements. The memo read:

'NOTICE: Use of spyware removal software may conflict with user license agreements of other applications installed on your system. Please consult your user license agreements for further information. Dell does not endorse the use of spyware removal software and cannot provide support on these products.' This means we do not take callers to download.com or doxdesk.com, nor do we recommend spyware removal programs, nor do we advise callers on the use of spyware removal programs.

An open letter has been sent to Dell Inc. from the antispyware/antivirus community asking them to retract this policy.

However some stories posted have said that Dell is installing or preinstalling spyware on their machines, this is NOT the case.

Heres a link to the letter that was sent to Dell: http://216.180.233.153/~swidotcom/support_letter.php

If it puts anything into perspective, I used to call Dell about problems with my computer AFTER I got rid of my Dell 🙂 Those front-line techs are morons. I'm sure if you called on a problem with an AMD processor they'd help you with it...

Never Again...

I bought a Dell desktop a little less than a year ago. I will tell you, I'll never make a purchase with that company again. While, I've yet to have problems with the computer itself, their tech support, and customer service are horrible. Their business practices border on fraud. Don't ever try to return something to Dell. It took me 4 months, a letter to the Better Business Bureau, and a call the Attorney General in Texas (where Dell is based) to get my money back. :sowrong: :Grrr: Nothing they do would surprise me.

dell can go to hell

Look, i know a thing or two about dell crap. i work in the computer industry for a few years now. i get so many daily customer complaints about dell, that i hate them and would never ever buy them. first of all, they do not support you, secondly they use some parts that only they sell at a very high cost, thirdly they tell you they giving you ms office for free but jack up the price of the computer and also most of there tech support always tell you it user error even when it dell fault.

the bottom line is that dell is a bad and evil company. i have heard stories to what TICKLISHBBW has posted. I guareentee there are many more horror storeis outthere on the topic of dell.
