I'm just in the mood to get a little discussion going about my favorite sport for watching and doing... Mma.
I know these lits are stupid but they always get good discussion going, and it tells you a lot about the peoples prefrences who make them. These are the 'off the top of my head' picks not so much the pics I'd make if I thought for a long time. Post your lists if you want, critisize mine if you feel like it... whatever, just discuss.
Heavyweight:
current: Fedor
all time: Fedor
personal fav: Fedor
Lightweight:
current: BJ Penn
all time: BJ Penn
Personal fav: BJ Penn
now we got the two easy weight classes for me out of the way now on to the hard stuff.

Light Heavyweight (my fav division and where it gets REAL hard to chose)
Current: probobly Evans that's a great streak he has going... but before the unfortunate fight with Forrest I would have said Rua. We should see soon who comes out on top between the Rua vs. Liddell fight and Rampage vs. Evans fight.
All Time: I guess Ill give the very slight nod to Liddell, he was so dominant and fought so many great opponents. Silva in his day wa unbeatable... Tito gets more garbage than he deserves with 5 sucessful title defenses, heck of a fighter, all said and done.... Chuck.
Personal Fav: Probobly Silva. But I just love light heavys.

Middleweight:
Current: Anderson Silva no question
All Time: Maybe its a bias... but I like Frank Shamrock here.
Personal: Not my fav devision but I like Silva and Shamrock here

Welterweight:
Current: GSP he's just amazing.
All Time: Love him or hate him nod goes to Matt Hughes from me at least
and a few special recognition fighters
Randy Coture - more than one weight class so wasent sure where to put him as a fav.
The Time of No Weight Classes and mostly one style fighters: Rickson Gracie.
A guy I just love: Bas Rutten

Women: (why dosent ufc have a womens division) Gina Carano (though Fujii is feirce too, but Ginas my favorite)

Guess that's my list for the day even though I'm leaving out so many I love.

I agree with ur list. However, I hope KenFlo takes the LW belt at UFC 101.

Machida might provide a tough test for Evans.

Current best is the world is either Anderson Silva, GSP or Fedor, without a doubt.

The 205 best in the world is either Evans, Machida or Rampage. Take your pick, you can't be wrong.

Matt Hughes may be the best of all time for now, but GSP is just starting to peak and there's NOBODY in the weight class who's close to him. If Thiago Alves can't beat GSP, expect that 'Best Welterweight Ever' title to change.

BJ Penn, as much as I hate his attitude and arrogance outside the cage, I would LOVE to watch him pound Florian.

I've been shocked how many people have been picking Florian to upset BJ, unless BJ comes in with no heart from his beat down by GSP I don't see how he losses...
BJ - Better stand up, BJ - better take downs and defense, and Bj - much better submissions.
MAYBE Florian wants it more and hopes to stop a week willed BJ with a sharp elbow? I just don't see it, but I've been surprised before.

At 205 its deep and time will tell for sure.

And I agree with you on GSP he's nothing but potential right now and I don't see him lossing for awhile.

Some people want to see Penn losing because of the Greasegate bullsh*t.

You gave the exact reason why I wish to see the opposite result.

Don't get me wrong, I hate BJ Penn's attitude. He's a douchebag. However, two things are also true. First, BJ Penn IS the best fighter in the world at 155lbs. Second, I hate Florian's fighting style. The whole run away and counter punch or drag in to a submission, similar to Lyoto Machida. Yes, if he scores the big hit, it's a knockout. If he never hits the knockout or submission, it can make for a very boring fight. The best example is Florian vs. Huerta. Florian ran the whole fight and won the decision.

I'd rather see an exciting fighting that I don't like with the belt than a boring fighter I don't like. Just my opinion though.

Personally, at 155 lbs, I prefer Shinya Aoki and Joachim Hansen.

I was so happy that GSP tooled BJ and shut his big mouth. Vaseline or not.

Vaseline or not.

According to GSP's camp and the ringside officials, no excessive amounts of Vaseline were used by GSP or his corner. Whatevs. Vaseline didn't pound Penn's face into the ring floor for 20 minutes.
