Silvertone for the win, BTW. Several generations of musicians got their start thanks to Silvertone and Danelectro. Seriously cool guitars.

I'd dig an amp-in-case guitar!

I started on a strat-style Dean Jammer, which I promptly traded for a Harmony Flying V!
 
Man, i would love to a have wireless setup. Anyways cool thread guys and compared to all of you i don't really have anything special, but i jam on an Ibanez RG321 with a Bill Lawarance pickup (it's what dimebag from pantera used before his sig model.) which kicks serious ass.
 
Your passion for the guitar is equalled by mine for the drums. I read your post and don't know what you're talking about, but I know how you feel. Music is life.

I play a Yamaha 5 piece stage custom advantage. The nicest kit I've played is a 7 piece ludwig when I auditioned at a studio last year, but the cymbals were nothing special. My cymbals are Zildjian A custom. When it comes to cymbals I love the paiste sound for hats, but not so much for crash or ride. I'm looking to buy a new snare for my kit, and I'm thinking of the metal 6" deep "Black Panther" by "DW".

Stop me .... I'm going on and on ....

If it's special to you, then that's all you need. I had an Ibanez ex360 that I dearly loved, until my (then) girlfriend knocked it off the stand and broke the neck. It was never the same. I ended up selling it and getting a Jackson.

Yeah i know Ibanez takes a lot of crap (especially on guitar forums), but for the price i am impressed with the quality of my guitar. I honestly tried a Les Paul and didn't like it more than my RG, not knocking Gibson or anything just stating my opnion. Oh yeah and i would kill for a older Jackson Randy Rhoads!

Funny this thread should pop back up. Due to a series of depressing events and very bad happenings over the last semester (on family, academic, social, and personal fronts) I had to get my act back together over Xmas break, and decided i should try to take up some new hobbies. One of them being, taking up the guitar again. So I got a good deal on a BC Rich Warlock and am trying to get back into it. Its pretty sweet. Anyone want to see pics or give feedback let me know:super_hap
 
on the Fender vs. Gibson thing. I have a 70's gold top LP and an 80's HM Strat.

I absolutely love them both but for different reasons. My Strat is my good all around guitar because I can pull so many different tones out of it but my Les Paul is fitted w/Dimarzzio Super Distortions (on the HM Strat, they come stock) and add that to the natural warmth and growl of the guitar .. well it just kicks serious tail. The problem is that it will only sound like a Les Paul. I can dial down to a lower volume on the guitar and get a little cleaner sound but it's still ginding a bit. I don't mind it ... especially playing clubs because it's not noticeable. Hell, a lot of accoustics have a little warmth that can sound grindy when you're coming out of the PA at club decibels.


Oh... and my first guitars were Silvertone, too. The very first was an accoustic that you needed vice-grips to get the string to the fret board. The next was an electric. I loved that thing. I've since hung it up on the wall as a display kind of thing. The amp wasn't in the case, though. It was an actual separte combo unit. I might even still have i somewhere.

Ah .. guitars.. the only thing that even compares with tickling pretty stocking feet.
 
I have an acoustic Epiphone (my baby), and an acoustic/electric Ovation that my ler bought me a few years ago for Christmas. Both are delicious, but I need to have the tension rod adjusted in the ovation...

love me some guitar...anyone on Chordie.com? I'm a HUGE fan since OLGA went down...
 
I, too, am walking the line. I've got a Les Paul (Epi LP Standard Plaintop w/DiMarzio PAF Pro pickups) and my Fender Strat ('60s reissue with DiMarzio Super Distortion S/YJM/HS-2) and each has a unique voice that I employ for totally different things.
