Well, it's starting again, our first near drowning of a one-year old over the weekend. (Sighs) It's officially summer, I guess, well almost.
I'd like to ask the parents out there something~well anybody really...In college I worked as a lifeguard (among other things.) One of the first things they taught us was that you always take the "victim" for an exam after the fact, even if it was just a close call. Why? Because the water that remains in the lungs can still kill you. It's called "secondary drowning." You literally drown on dry land.
I swear at least once a summer, I attend a party where a baby/young child "slips" into the pool or hottub~now I know it's hard to be right there 24/7 but holy cow!
Anyway, I wouldn't have had this knowledge without that training so just in case someone out there isn't aware, I hope I've educated at least one person here and maybe one day, save a life.
I'm done ranting now~have a fab day everybody and for goodness sake, be careful out there!
XOXO
