Halloween Movie Suggestion & Your Additions

Perhaps we can can get a list of favourites going.

Mine might be a bit obscure for some-
In 1979 a movie called "The Changeling" came out.It stars George C.Scott as a man recovering from the accidental death of his wife and child.As a musician/teacher-He takes a position at a West Coast University and rents a 19th Century mansion.Needless to say the house is also occupied by the spirit of a former resident who is not at rest.It is a ghost story/murder mystery that offers no gory scenes but very suspenseful moments.The Seance scene is one of the best on film.Scott's character tapes it and the later playback of the tape sends shivers down your back.As usual-the music soundtrack adds to the atmosphere well!

It's available on DVD (Hopefully for rental for those interested)

Personally, we're going to go see "The Grudge" tonight. After all the great things we've heard, we're bound to be entertained!

As for my own recommendations? Hmmmm.....

Hard to come by, but if you can find it, "Sleepaway Camp". Only the first will do. The two sequels were extremely campy and boring. The original however is worth checking out if you've never seen it. For most of the movie, it's your typical off-the-wall campy style slasher flick. But the ending has a twist that will disturb you so badly you'll never forget it for the rest of your life.

"Return of the Living Dead" - I & II. Both are great creepouts with a few well timed moments of humor. Laugh & crap...great combo. 😀

"Funhouse". Turn of the 80's horror film, sometimes hard to come by, but good creepy enviroment and and scene or two that will stay with you for a long while.

"Waxwork". One of my faves. A bit campy and goofy, but great movie that combines scenes and tributes to many historical horrors - Dracula, Zombies, Marquise De Sade, werewolf, mummy, and others. Great atmospheric movie, and stars 80's horror flick cutie Deborah Foreman (April Fools). Can't go wrong there!

yeah that is obvious. They play Halloween part and part 5 on amc like non stop on friday nights and on the monsterfest every year

for those that don't care for blood and gore or have easily frightened kids or spouses/significant others...i suggest Hocus Pocus and Casper, Dracula..Dead and Loving It,Haunted Honeymoon,and if you like old horror/comedy films...try the Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein,The Killer,The Invisible Man,Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde,and the Mummy

"Horror Hotel"
"Carnival of Evil"
"House on Haunted Hill"-(the original with Vincent Price)

Does anyone remember a 1960's Horror Film called "The Chamber of Horrors" .It starred Patrick O'Neal as psychopathic killer in 19th Century Baltimore who,on escaping custody, seeks revenge on the people who sent him to the gallows.En route to prison,he escapes from
guards and jumps off a train (minus his right hand which was handcuffed to a handrail on the back of a passanger train).He then goes back to Baltimore where he gets fitted with a special stump on the end of his arm that allows him to screw on certain butchery tools such as a meat cleaver,(which he uses to chop off the head of the judge that sentenced him to hang),and a butcher knife,(which he used to cut off the hands of the policeman who was on the train with him).
I think his intension was to assemble a human body consisting of parts from different people.
I remember the beginning of the film featured a voiceover warning the viewer that a "Flash" in the picture and a "Horror Horn" would sound just before a murder was to take place.(In case the viewer wished to look away!

Oh! another good one is "The Pit and the Pendulum" (Vincent Price)
The very thought of being buried alive,let alone opening a crypt and finding one such person who experienced it is frightening!!

Also,which do you prefer:
Invasion of the Body Snatchers 1950's version or 1970's Version?

i never was a big Halloween fan. yeah john carpenter did a brillaint job creating that series in every sense. but i've only liked part 1 and thats it pretty much for me. i have never got into
