Halo 2 Is Here!

Today is the release date of the long awaited sequel to the very best first person shooting / action adventure game of all time. I put mine on reserve a month ago and I'm going to pick it up this morning. Toys R Us received their shipment at 12:01am, and if I was just a little more obsessed, I would have camped out in the parking lot! I can't wait!!!

I'm not a big fan of Halo. i own the first one but i hardly ever play it. i only play it when my friend Greg comes over. other wise it collects dust

i play more sports types games. like Madden 2005 for instance i'm playing that right now

I suggest you invite Greg over more often. I think its a great game and I'm going to be watching you to make sure you play, goddamn it!

Halo 2 is nowhere near as good as the original, especially Multiplayer.

I won't go into detail as to why I don't like it, as I'd give away spoilers, but I can say that it's very short, especially when playing Campaign with 2 people (my buddy and I beat it last night in 6 hours). And there doesn't seem to be much replay value to it at all, unlike the original. I don't have XBox Live yet, so I can't comment on online play just now.

I'm going to play it again a few times, as I want this to be an awesome game, considering I waited in line for 2 hours in the cold to get it, and got elbowed in the face a couple times on the way.

All in all, I'm pretty dissappointed in it.

I have waited for this game for 2 stinking YEARS!! I had dreams about this game. I wrote to the company 5 times looking for release dates.

My wife bought it for me yesterday. I held the wrapped game in my hot little hands, caressed it to my cheek and then put it away until Christmas. I can't believe they took all this time to make a game that's not even as good as the first.


My day is ruined. 🙁

I'm playing it right now and I think it's great. The combat is fun and your comp allies are a lot smarter now. They actually take cover and stay there under fire and they seem tougher too.

Akimbo guns is a blast too. My only gripes are the same from the last game. The game plays like it's constantly on low grav, you can only hold 2 weapons, 3 via akimbo. If we could hold 3 different weapons I think I'd be happy. BTW you burn through ammo fast, especially with the SMG. Sometimes it takes 1/2 clip just to kill one creature.

It's better. Much, much better. I'm still trying to get my hands used to the Xbox controller again (this and the original are the ONLY FPS I've played on consoles since Goldeneye) which means I'm suffering a slight case of death now and again, but so far it rocks. Not wanting to give too much away but there's more a sense of... of being involved in a big ass battle. The original was one ship against the universe, this time round it feels more involving thanks in no small part to the Covenant being on the attack rather than defending. Good stuff.

The multiplayer kicks as much ass as ever, though it's going to be a while until I'm feeling confident enough to hit Live. Right now I'd be fragged in about two seconds flat. Dual wielding weapons is a god send, and the fact you can control both guns separately is a big bonus. It take the tactical elements of weapon selection from the original a big step further. And as always grenades play a big part, both to take out groups without wasting precious ammo and for getting enemies out of defensive positions. And on the rapid ammo use, I actually like it. Having to throw away your human weapon and live off the land lends an air of Ultimate Ass Kicker to the Master Chief, and thus you, which can only be a good thing.

As for reply value, anyone that says there isn't any hasn't tried cranking the dificulty. On Legendary this thing becomes incredibly hard, but boy oh boy is it worth it. The AI suddenly steps up a notch or seven for both the enemy and your allies, and things get more than a little hectic.

Alright, I realized why it took so soon to beat the game the first time...we inadvertantly put it on Easy and blew through it. We put it back on Legendary; they don't lie when they say "this is suicide" on the description...

We've been playing it a bit more, and with the exception of Multiplayer still not having that "something" that the original did, it's gotten alot better. I still don't like the physics of the jump, though...

The storyline is kinda pissing me off, though...I won't go into specifics, but when you get there, you'll know exactly what I mean.

I'm enjoying it alot more now, but I'm still kinda dissappointed...

its cool. The weapons are balanced and the ending well, yeah its pretty short but leaves ya on a cliff hanger. Online play is fantastic though. No lag, which is perfect. Get it, its the ultimate multiplayer game.

Hey BofH666, thanks for the feedback. I've been torturing myself, because I promised I'd wait until Christmas to play it. It's an anniversary thing with me. I got my very first XBOX for Xmas in 2001. The first version came with Halo and Gotham Racing (I love both games and XBOX has changed my life). So, I've decided that I will inaugurate my new Halo2 on Christmas day to commemorate the day I discovered this incredibly cool game.

From what I understand, Halo3 is already well in the works.

Maybe I should just wait for that one to come out, and play them all together. LOL! Thanks
