Like most people who use these forums, anytime a new 'site' becomes available, my curiousity gets the better of me and I 'need' to check it out. A few days ago, I happened into Haltickling's new forum site. I went through the process of entering whatever information I needed to 'access' the forums. Imagine my surprise (and annoyance)when after entering all this information, I was informed that to view any 'file' postings (i.e. clips,pics, anime')to verify my age, I would need to enter my PASSPORT identification numbers!!

Needless to say that with all that is going on in the world today,not to mention the issues here in the US (and perhaps worldwide) with regards to Identity Theft, I immediately demanded to be removed from this site as a member. Is it just me, but my feeling here is that any document as seriously valid with regards to citizenship AND identity as a Passport should not be taken so lightly. Perhaps, Mr Hal...you could be so kind as to come up with another form of insuring age credibility! Thanks!

Hi folks,

after the initial problems on my new site have been solved, I'm glad to announce that we were able to simplify the access procedure for the restricted material (pics, stories, clips) for non-Europeans. Here's how to do it:

1) register at www.Haltickling.de
2) send a mail to [email protected] , containing:

- user name
- nationality
- date of birth
- the following sentence (copy and paste):
"I hereby certify that I am over 18 years of age, and that I am allowed to access the adult nature of this forum's content without any legal problems in my country."

Then the restricted sections will be opened to you, usually within 24 hours (you'll receive a mail as soon as it's done).

The initial problems with the display of photos have also been solved. Now there are only 5 pics per individual post (with over 300 photos already up), to ensure fast page-loading even for slower connections. The same will be done in the "arts" section soon.

Yes, I can verify that the simpler method listed works. I sent such an email to Hal, and now have access to the adult areas of the site. I have posted a couple of the stories from my TMF subforum there also. 😀

Maxxnme (and all others), I wrote the following reply to your post on my site:

1) EU law on age check is a bit more strict than US law, and as our server is here in Germany, we have to obey German and EU law.

2) We have established a simplified procedure for non-EU citizens, see details here: http://www.haltickling.de/viewtopic.php?t=57 . Without your passport number.

3) In any case, the passport check is an anonymous and completely confidential procedure. The passport number won't be used or displayed anywhere, it's just an authencity test, and your DOB is coded in that number. Not even Goury or me can see what you enter there.

I think that this should clarify the matter. After all, protection of minors should be important to all of us.
