Bugman, I didn't realize she was still alive!
i must recommend one of her greatest performances in The Heiress (1948) which I just saw recently. It's a fascinating movie because the three actors are: Olivia D'Havilland, Montgomery Clift, and Ralph Richardson. As I was watching this (great) movie, I realized I was watching three COMPLETELY different acting styles:
Richardson - classically trained Shakespearean actor
Clift - method actor
D'Havilland - Hollywood movie star
And yet.....the three acting styles blended seamlessly, and D'Havilland was absolutely superb. In fact, I believe she won the Oscar that year. Worth seeing it just because it's a great movie, but also just to see three completly different types of actors mixing it up. All three styles, completely valid and effective.
I am SO happy to hear that she's still alive! That's amazing! I wish I could talk to her right now!
