Ok, it's the morning after, but Happy Solstice anyway!
Some of us, for whatever reasons we have, don't celebrate Christmas, etc in the traditional ways and adhere to....older traditions. 🙂
It's been a long-running tradition in my family to do the "Bonfire at Midnight" thing, and even though there were only a few of us this year, the tradition continued. It's a simple ritual...smoke a bit of weed, burn a lot of wood...and contemplate on the natural order of things that exists outside of civilization, commercialism, personal gain and all of those things that make our lives so very complicated.
It's kind of a pagan thing, but there's really no religious structure to it. Sometimes traditions can be kept alive even if the original beliefs that led to those rituals no longer apply. And I must say...being part of something that, in one way or another, goes back thousands of years before religious ceremony, was humbling. I thought back to early tribal men of my lineage offering up fire for a safe winter and all the time that's passed since.
In any case, for those of a non-religious nature, I wish you all a safe and bountiful winter and a Happy Winter Solstice. 🙂
