Happy Songs

With all this talk of Presidents dying, war, elections, and political rhetoric, I wanted to post on a topic that was more positive. What are some of the happiest songs you can think of that you've heard in your life? For me, there are a few, such as

Dancing in the Moonlight-by King Harvest, from 1973, has lines like "Dancing in the Moonlight, everybody's feeling warm and bright, it's such a fine and natural sight, everybody's Dnacing in the Moonlight"

Shiny Happy People- By R.E.M. 1980s. I havent heard this song in a long time, so I dont remember all the words.

Walking on Sunshine- Katrina and the Waves-1980s. I first heard this at a Mets-Braves game at Shea Stadium in 1987. Seems I ended up liking a lot of songs I've heard at ballgames.

Soak up the Sun-Sheryl Crow. Good beat, happy song, "I'm gonna soak up the sun, while it's still free" I have that one on CD.

I guess that's enough for now. Anyone who can think of some songs with happy beats, kindly post here. It would be nice to see songs about happy things.

“Wonderful World" by Louie Armstrong - most definitely! Louie is a favorite good mood listen of mine.

“Pinch Me” by The Bare Naked Ladies - another one that always makes me smile. “put the sprinkler on the lawn and run through with my gym shorts on.” does it get any happier than that?

Though most people would like to see them die horribly for "Who Let The Dogs Out", the Baha Men did a great tropical island-style remake of "Dancing" in the mid nineties. It didn't do well at all on the charts, but I really liked it.

Another I'd add to this list is Ob La Di, Ob La Da by the Beatles. It's a very upbeat happy song written by Mccartney, something that was reportedly thrown in his face by John Lennon at the end of the Beatles days, as they reportedly got into a row over Paul's "granny" music. I like Lennon's music, although wasnt always fond of what I read about him or his personality. Ironically, he and my father share the same birthday, 10-9-40, although that has nothing to do with my feelings about Lennon. He was a brilliant musician, though, and his life ended way too soon.
