This has nothing to do with tickling but a lot to do with why I haven't been here much lately. After installing Microsoft "critical upgrade" Q329048 for Windows XP, I have had (1) all of my media players stop working, (2) Word Pad keep crashing, (3) various apps hang up, and (4) the computer not turn off even with the power button. Uninstalling did not help, and neither did system restore. I ended up having to reinstall the entire OS, and I am STILL having occasional problems with my media players giving me spurious error messages and not downloading clips properly.
I have reported the problem to both MS and my manufacturer -- guess which one has responded and which hasn't. I strongly urge everyone to be very careful about installing this so-called upgrade, which is a fix for an obscure security flaw involving zipped files. At the least it would be wise to check w/ your computer manufacturer before installing this little monster.
I hope this helps keep someone out of trouble. Meantime, I want to find a way to make Big Bill buy me a Mac Powerbook ... any suggestions?
Love to all,
