I think it depends on the angle and if the wrestler is a baby face or heel. I'm guesing Edge was a heel at the time, so Cena beating him in Toronto was probably part of the story line. Most of the time I think they let the title stay with the champ in his home town.

Except for the fact that Bret is from Calgary not Montreal. Of course the entire country embraced him as a national wrestling hero, and he was treated like he was in his home town every where he went, so you could almost make a case for it. but not quite. I remember Owen Hart puting over Bob Holly in a Non title match when he was IC champ ( I think) when they were in Holly's home town. No body else would do it, and Owen stept up and did the honours. Holly even mentioned it during the tribute show they did on RAW after Owen's death.

Nah, Bret even said it himself on his DVD set "Lord knows I've lost in Canada lots of times before." or something to that effect. Plus Benoit lost the big belt to Orton in Toronto at Summer Slam.

For someone that "hates" the WWE you damn sure make it a point to post in every WWE related thread. 🙄

The last time I looked this was simply a "Wrestling related" thread, asking about some wrestling history. I know a little bit about it wrestling history so I commented on it. Maybe you should look at post titles before you make comments like that.

Anyway, I don't think to many guys have droped belts in their home town. I'm sure it has happened, but not very often.
