Has anybody ever been tickled and had to hold in their laughter?

I'm in the mood to share another experience and see if anything like this has happened to anyone else.

One time I teased a friend who is ticklish about her being so ticklish. She told me she bets I'm just as ticklish as she is. I kind of saw this as an opportunity to get her to tickle me back, and told her her not ticklish in the least.

Well, things didn't exactly go as planned, and she just dropped the subject. I was a little disappointed and thought it was all over, but I was wrong. I didn't know it, but she actually later asked my girlfriend (at the time) if I was ticklish and found out I really am.

Anyways, a couple days later, a bunch of us are at the movie theater, including her and my girlfriend. Halfway into the movie, I felt a poke at one side from my friend. She kind of poked me several times in the side, causing me to squirm closer to the other seat next to me, where my girlfriend was sitting.

A few minutes went by, and then, my girlfriend started poking me! So, I'm squirming around again, and suddenly, I'm getting poked on each side. Towards the end of the movie, the poking escalated into full out tickling from both of them, and I was doing my best to hold in the laughter. I can't say for sure, but I wouldn't be surprised if I had turned purple by the end of the movie from all the tickling.

I managed to hold it in until the credits started playing, and then I finally started laughing. It wasn't really an ending that called for laughing, so it was just a little embarrassing, but oh well.

Then, my friend turned to me as she stood up and said, "Told ya you were ticklish, too." It wasn't until later that my girlfriend said they came up with that plan before going to the theater.

So, anybody else ever experience anything similar?

I naturally hold in my laughter. It's a coping mechanism.

It's a habit for me, and part of the whole resual thing. I love to refuse to almost anything, when it comes to tickling, or whatever, so part of it, I try not giving in to the tickles. So, yeah, habit. I don't "have" to hold it in.

it is absolutely impossible for me to hold back a laugh, but i try to avoid being tickled cause i get tears in my eyes and go in hysterics within seconds and i don't like losing my self

It didn't happen to me but I once was the cause of someone having to hold in their laughter. A few years ago I was at a library in the quiet reading area seated next to a lady friend of mine. We're tickle friends to begin with so she knew what she was in for when she decided to place her foot on my lap as we sat at the table reading. I almost immediately set my magazine down and pulled off her loafer. With my right hand holding onto her ankle, I reached down with my left arm to set her shoe on the floor quietly rather than letting it drop and making a thud noise. She was grinning at me but also seemed to be a little worried I might embarrass her. I started off gently but only for a few seconds. Then I dug my fingers into her soles a little harder and faster. She did her best to hold it in. Her laugh was raspy (I don't know how else to describe it) and she was twitching all the while I tickled her foot. She was wearing navy blue trouser socks by the way so not too much protection. After only 10 or 15 seconds she was using her magazine to cover her face but I soon stopped the tickling before her laughter got louder. Also one of the patrons was becoming annoyed. I let go of her ankle and she, still lightly giggling, took her foot off my lap and reached with it under the table to slide her shoe back on. We left the library after that.

That's funny. I've played a game similar to that...of course, it was on purpose, rather than getting ambushed. I'm fairly ticklish on my palms/wrists/forarms, but it's not nearly one of my worst spots. It can get me laughing, though. When this one particular friend and I would go to the theater together, she would hold my arm in her lap or on the arm rest. Then, throughout the movie, she would just randomly tickle me all over my arm. She would try to get me to embarrass myself by laughing at times when no one else was. (She even got me a few times.) It was extremely fun for us both...and I have to say...I missed out on a lot of movie plots because of it.

Yes, also at a movie theater, I tried to hold in my laughter even though it was a comedy.

But, I'm horribly ticklish, so often the person(s) tickling me have to hold a hand over my mouth and also try to keep my feet from kicking the chair in front of me.
But tears quickly form in my eyes as I throw my head back and forth in helpless laughter.
Talk about losing self control!

Recently I was on the phone with my housemate who was asking for advice about something, and my new girlfriend, sensing the serious tone of the conversation and wanting to be evil/wanting to get me off the phone, started playing with my feet. I was wearing nylons, too, which made it even worse! Absolutely unbearable, but very hot. She doesn't know I have a thing for tickling (yet?) but she sure as hell seems to enjoy taking advantage of my ticklishness, and that's fine by me!

Generally speaking I hold in my laughs, or try to, when I'm first tickled. It usually works unless the tickling continues, in which case, o' happy day to me. That being said, even if I hold in the laughs, a big smile and me jumping/trying to get away is an automatic response, regardless of the situation.

Well I don't hold it in as I'm not ticklish, but it's pretty fun to have somebody trying to tickle you and slowly realising they can't in a place like a movie theater when they are trying to get you to have an embarassing reaction but can't heeee.

i usually laugh out loud and giggle hysterically, but i've had the same thing happen to me. i've been tickled in the movie theatre and it's absolutely horrible to hold it in, hah. 🙂

I've rarely been tickled to laughter or even giggling, but when I have I don't hold it in unless there are family members in the room next to us and we don't want to let others know what we're doing.

I'll try to hold in the laugh when im tickled in inappropriate times..like on the phone or in a movie theatre..but i always break very quickly..lol

I hold it in to encourage my husband to tickle me even more. He's got a real bad habit of ceasing the tickles once I really start laughing (one time he held me down and tickled my feet until I was past my limit and was sobbing instead of laughing, and it deeply upset him), so I like to play a little game where I hold it in so he won't stop tickling me! He will sometimes tickle my sides, ribs, or feet when we're with our friends, and I have to hold it in then too 🙂

A lot of times I'll hold it in at first. I think it has to do with my dominant personality and how it doesn't want to give up control or be forced to react. Though I'll quickly transition from tough to little girl in like 5 seconds.

An old friend I used to tickle all the time would ALWAYS try to her laughter in. I thought it made her even cuter and more adorable. Squirming and trying her damnedest not to laugh. Drove me to work harder to get her to laugh. For me, that made it more fun and fulfilling. She was making me work for that beautiful laugh of hers. 🙂
