I'm currently trying to write "Hysterical Hurley Pt. III". I have it all in my head, but it seems like it does not want to come out, and I hate that. I guess I'm just out of practice. I want my Elizabeth Hurley stories to be great because she is my all-time favorite tickle torture fantasy. I just melt everytime I see her.

Oh yes...

When I get writers block I try to do one of two things if not both.
One is to try not to think about the story at all, work on something completely different. I call it rebooting the brain. Usually when working on something completely different, I will then think of a new plot point or some new torture or whatever the case may be. Sometimes our brain gets in a loop and can't think of another solution.
I also have found that just driving and thinking about the subject works too. Bring a tape recorder and vocalize your thoughts in the car.

Don't focus on the story -- staring at the blank screen usually only makes it worse, because you just get frustrated. De-focus from the story and don't think about it; let your subconscious mind take over, and sooner or later the idea(s) will present themselves. John Lennon once put it this way: if you turn on the lights, the cockroaches all scuttle away. You have to leave the lights out before they will come out. (To which I can only answer: John, I love you and the Beatles, but...dude...COCKROACHES?)

I've written long essays while unable to progress on a particular bit of prose or music. It's tiresome, but happens to every writer I've ever known or read about.

It IS annoyin', though, 'specially if you've a story on which you *know* you USED to know where to go, and are now stuck. It's worse than forgettin' directions midway there.

For me, distractions work best, or "mindless" work. I've cleaned whole apartments before, waiting, not-so-patiently.

Condolensces. It WILL come back around. Never knew anyone with Writer's Block that stuck forever.

Ok, I could tell you what works for me but the whole issue would go to POT. I don't want to throw a WEED in the garden, but sometimes creativity just isn't there. I was talking to my friend MARY JANE at this burger JOINT and we HASHed out a solution. She said "Dave, don't be a DOPE, just walk away from it for a while and don't think about it. It'll come when it's ready."
Then we laid on the GRASS and watched the clouds for a while. The next thing I know the SMOKE had cleared and I had a new story.

Hope this helps...😀

Dave, perhaps you Mari-wanna do something...DOH! I just can't be as clever as you. 🙂

I know how you feel, I'm going through the same thing, at the moment....

Ovda,
My name is James Beksha, or if you like my screen name I'm ElvisJessie. Anyway I suggest you just relax, and put away your wrighting for a couple of weeks forget about it do another activity, keep your mind of it and then in a few weeks come back to it. Trust me it works. I've benn off, and trying to write a private investagators noval, and constantly I'm comming across writers block. Just keep Rockin,
and you'll do fine...

Thanks for you help

I got over the writers block. I finished "Hysterical Hurley Pt.III". I'm working on another story.

Block?

The only problem I have when writing is a lack of time...damn ideas are constantly pouring through my sieve like memory. A walk down the block generates 3 ideas that I never get to..lol! The world is such a wondrous and funny place that the problem is weeding (sorry...couldn't resist) out the GOOD plots from the dreck! Anyway, I think a 3 stooges movie should clear up any residual blockage you might experience...those boys knew how to party! Q
