Hateful & obvious hot button threads ... why give the ''idiot'' what he /she wants

Why do hateful and obvious ''trolling '' threads by far get the most number of replies. These individuals are spewing crap just to cause tension and get under the skin of other members

I`m not talking about well-meaning threads that bring up contraversial topics in a discussion platform where people are free to discuss their opinions in a civilized manner. My personal opinion is these types of threads can be some of the best and most insightful topics on the forum .

Honestly ; you can see these ''trolling '' threads coming a mile away or by the very least after reading into the first paragraph. These people who start the threads thrive on causing strife so why should we '' feed the beast ''.

Hell ; I enjoy spirited , passionate debate as well as the next person. But why try to reason with someone who has obviously kicked all rational thinking to the curb ??!!

It's the same in every forum I've been to and I've been to lots. Flock's philosophy makes the most sense of any, but forum regulars everywhere enjoy a good public stoning too much to exercise the necessary discipline to ignore obvious flame bait.

Nah Lately I just put the dick wads on ignore and report threads to the mods...

I went from 1 screen name on my ignore list to 25 in one week...

The mods are doing a good job of taking care of true trolls here.......

Because while civilized debate occurs, troll threads are a more honest image of how humans interact. It's very funny to see how fast someone loses their composure over something as meaningless as an obvious online troll thread.

Level headedness is always lost to anger for some people. And sometimes, honestly, some people really don't see it as a troll topic and respond as if it wasn't. You think, "How could it be ANY MORE OBVIOUS?!" But for some people? It really could be before they understood...TROOOOOLLLLL!

I hate to admit it. But, every so often, I'm in the mood to spar with the trolls...or at least get in a shot or two. The best approach is to ignore and report, though...before things have a chance to get overly nasty.

This. Trolls basically have the humour and social sophistication of a molested 11 year old with ADD, and if you've never seen one of those kids throw a tantrum, let me tell you, it's hilarious.

This forum mostly consists of inside joke threads, youtube threads, or troll threads.


In the first option, not many understand, so they don't post. In the second, a lot of people don't care. In the troll posts, everybody can participate, and so, the troll threads get the most replies.
