If you like WWII campagins and World Domination from any front, then it is worth the purchase. I have also played Risk and Risk 2210 (which was very interesting indeed). The A&A game that I play, is on the PC, but I have played the board game of Axis and Allies as well. No I have not played Command and Conquer 2. Where can I find it? I may just buy it.
I see.
Well, I'm not sure if it's still available. Since Yuri's Revenge, there has been another addition to the C&C series, and its called Generals. But it demands quite a bit from your computer in order to play well. I don't have it though.
Command & Conquer 2 and the Yuri's Revenge expansion pack should be available anywhere PC games are sold. It should be available as a complete pack which includes both of them. The game doesn't demand much from your computer, and its pretty user-friendly.
Basically, it takes place in the not so distant future. You can play as the Allies, the Soviets, or as Yuri's Army. Each one has it's own distant strengths and weaknesses as you'd expect from a real time strategy game.
It has a tecnological edge to it. For example, the Allies have a unit called the Prism Tank, which is basically a tank that fires optic lasers from a prism that can arc in different directions and is really devestating against enemy buildings and troops, but is weak against other tanks.
The Soviets possess the strongest tank unit in the game, they've named the Apocalypse. Its expensive and slower than the other tanks in the game, but its good against everything, and it also sports twin-mounted surface-to-air missles for aircraft interception.
Yuri's forces have a wide variety of unique troops and vehicles. Yuri's main strength however is his psychic technology, which allows Yuri players to take control of enemy troops, tanks, units, and sometimes enemy buildings and defensive structures. Yuri also has cloning technology which allows you to create an extra troop for every troop you train, free of cost.
With the Allies and the Soviets you can also play as a particular nation in the alliance.
For example, if you choose to play as Korea (one of my favorites) you get a special unit that no other branch gets called the Black Eagle. Its a heavy fighter bomber which is very durable and delivers a more massive payload to the target.
If you play as the Soviets, one nation you can represent is Libya (my favorite for the Soviets). By playing as them you get a special unit called the Demolition Truck, which is a truck that self-destructs on a target and sets off a small-scale nuclear bomb.
In addition to these things, each force gets super weopons which they can build.
The Allies have the Weather Control Machine (which creates storm clouds about enemy bases and causes lighting to destroy enemy structures and units over a wide radius. They also have a device called the Chronosphere. It allows the Allies to warp in units from anywhere on the map to anywhere else on the map.
The Soviets have the Nuclear Missle Silo, which causes massive damage within the blast radius and also causes radiation damage afterwards and kills any troops nearby. The Soviets also have a device called the Iron Curtain, which allows them to make their tanks temporarily invincible.
Yuri's Army has the Psychic Dominator, which causes damage to enemy buildings in the radius, but first and foremost perminentally mind controls enemy units that it targets. Yuri's Army also has a device called the Genetic Mutator, which allows the Yuri player to transform any troops into Brutes (a monstrosity of a man akin to the Hulk which is effective against tanks, troops, and buildings).
All of these super weopons are long range and the target can be chosen from anywhere on the map, which makes them very key. They are expensive, and slow to build, and they also require a power-up countdown time each time they're used, but the effects and damage are impressive and often key at delivering a fatal blow.
