HELP!!! NEED someone computer savvy!!

The final footage we have for TickleMania 2 was filmed with a camera we're not at all used to. Each clip was e-mailed to me, as CPI, from a computer that has Windows 8. We have Windows 7 and they don't work! They were somehow converted to .wlmp, which should make them simple enough to upload into Windows Movie Maker, but the files aren't recognized and the codec is wrong??

I tried downloading all this different codec, but nothing works. I don't even know if I'm doing it right 'cause I know nothing of this stuff, does anyone?

Try AVS4YOU, which is infinitely better than WMM in every possible way you can think of. It'll run you about $200, but there is a demo version. I got it on sale back in March and it was worth every penny; it's one of the only non-thousands-of-dollars piece of software that handles the M2TS format that my camera shoots in.

They also have a converter suite if you don't need the whole package.

They were e-mailed to me as .wlmp's, assclown, and the laptop comes with WMM which turns .wlmp's into .wmv's. And since nothing else was working, I figured I'd try the obvious. Makes sense, doesn't it, junior?

Assclowns aside.. have you tried Pinnicle or their Parent Company AVID's software

I'll save you some hassle; I just looked up the supported formats and AVS4YOU doesn't do .wimp, either.

However, Googling the file extension itself pops up some threads on various forums and blogs where people are having the same problem you are. I didn't actually visit any of them, so I don't know if any of them actually have solutions posted, but it's a start.

I've already been burned by other video converters with the same problem, so I took the liberty of double checking and then not downloading. But I appreciate the heads-up, regardless.

I have not. But I've come to the realization that mine n' Mrs. Po's laptop simply considers the footage a corrupt file, regardless of what we try to do. May have to have it all resent as a .wmv. Thank you, though!
