Help someone please !

Soooo.
hiho hello !

for 2 month now, i think, i am trying to enter the chatrooms, but all i get is a message, that the internetexplorer would like to download the "virtual java machine". i'd like, too !! But it does not work. I was told to download the service pack 1 (i'm using WinXP), where virtuel java machine would be integrated. But it didn't workd either. I cant download the service pack. so i am asking what to do. Is there a way to enter the chat via mIRC or something like that ?

Please help me, guys!
