Why at times does my mouse misbehave and not let the little arrow thing go where it should? Sometimes the damn arrow floats all over the page and won't behave..

It's ususally because there is some dirt and crud up underneath the mouse ball and in the workings of the mouse. It's probably time for a new mouse Izzy. Get one of those optical ones....can't happen to those....

And get those socks off of your feet. The mouse works better when you're barefoot...lol.

No it's a desk top computer..

Getting dirt inside the mouse with a ball is very common. An easy fix (besides purchasing an optical mouse) would be to remove the ball, take a paper clip and scratch at the wheels to remove any dirt.

Do you have a ball on the bottom of your mouse? Or does it light up?

it's flat on the bottom..and doesn't light up.

hmmm... Make sure it isnt on a reflective surface. Mine was giving me problems on a shiney wood desk. So I had to get a dark mousepad.

Did the problem get solved, Isabeau? I ask because, once awhile back, I had a computer that contracted some seriously viral crap that'd make the mouse totally freeze up.

Otherwise, cleaning the area where the ball is stored should work for your mouse, if it's that sort, of course. I use one of those pointy x-acto blades to root out micro-fuzz-bunnies from mine every coupla weeks.

it's working fine now..i'm supposed to clean it every once in a blue moon lol..i didn't realize you were supposed to clean where the light is..and hmm i have this mouse trained..i would hate to start all over with a new mouse..ah well..thanks..
