This Yankee fan is jumping for joy....with any luck the Yanks will win tomorrow and so will the Indians.... :dogpile: :blaugh: :blaugh: :blaugh:

Well, Boston didn't need the division title to win the Series last year... :wavingguy

Perhaps someday baseball will quit being so Wal-Martish in thier greed and adopt an NFL-style sytem of parity, salary caps and revenue sharing.

Just seems anti-climactic every year...mostly because New York has Boardwalk and Park Place before the dice are even thrown.

(P.S. This isn't coming from a die-hard Sox fan...just an opinion from a fan of sports in general. :triangle: )

Hi Dave...ok...I will let this slide because you talk nicely!! One day I will meet you...

But anyway, this diehard Yankee fan is just happy tonight because it is Boston that they beat!!

it aint over

you yankee fans should know that you shouldnt ever count the sox out as long as there is a chance

Jpie, I have nothing against the Yankees, oh, except Mr Steinbuyer's 200 million dollar payroll. I've come to learn over the past few years that the term "wild card" cannot be taken lightly. While my team, the Braves, has had the dubious distinction of having won 14 straight division titles, and until now, only one World Series, wild card teams scare the hell out of me. The last three World Champs were wild card teams, and, if Houston wins the wild card, as I fear they might, they could easily take my Braves out with their rotation of Clemens, Pettite, and Oswalt, plus their mega closer Brad Lidge. Would you like to face those guys in a five or seven game series? I sure as heck wouldnt.
It will be interesting to see who wins the wild card in the AL. My bet is that it could be Boston. In the NL, I keep hoping that somehow the Phillies can win tomorrow, and Greg Maddux beats the Stros, setting up a one game playoff on Monday that Philly would win, giving Atlanta a first round matchup with San Diego, whom I feel we can beat. If Atlanta plays Houston, we may have an early winter. As for the Yankees, and any other team, the playoffs the last three years have taught me that you cannot count any team out in a short series.
It may be Monday night before we know the outcome of everything. We'll see how it goes.

Mitch

We have to let the Yanks have SOMETHING after trying so hard this year. They only take the division on a technecality as after today's (Sunday's)game
we will have the same record....not much for the Yanks to brag about, but they can have that title again this year, while the Sox take the world series champs title once more....hopefully in a repeat against St. Louis.

Sox fans will take that any year.... :bouncybou

Baseball is a past-time I do watch sometimes (was a big Expos fan).
How shall I put this.....DAMN YANKEES!
Oh well, the Red Sox will win again - wish the Yankees and Braves would just go away.

Big deal. You lost 3-0 lead last year. Yankee fans should say nothing about winning a division on the second to last of the season with a $210,000,000 payroll and still haven't beaten the Red Sox in a big spot since losing 4 in a row the Boston last season. You should have won this division in June with that payroll. That is my opinion and I am not even a Red Sox fan.

dear dear Ray,

we need another bet my sweets!!!! LOL , although with any bet between us we both win! :veryhappy

Hmmmmm...It appears the Yanks will have to travel across the country to be eliminated.....too bad the Sox shot down their chance for home field advantage after today's game...(just as I said they would...)

Better luck next year JPie....

R :wavingguy

I hope the Red Sox beat the White Sox and the Angels beat the Yankees. Then Anaheim, er, I mean L.A. 😕, and Boston will battle it out for the AL pennant. Since Boston won it last year, I'll be rooting for my Angels this year, and a World Series with the San Diego Padres would be perfect, Southern California all the way! :bouncybou

from mlb.com........This means that even more of the Yankees' money will be redistributed elsewhere next season. For 2004, between revenue sharing and the luxury tax, the Yankees paid out more than $80 million. At their expected level of spending, they will pay more than $200 million in 2005.

i understand what you are saying.but you cant` fault guys like steinbrenner(Yanks) or Luccino<sp?>(Bosox) for putting money back into their teams instead of their pockets.

YANKS ALL THE WAY!!!!

I'm guessing most BoSox fans aren't feeling too well tonight 🙁

ok, the Yanks got past the best Pitcher LA has....GO YANKS!!

As I said hon...angels in 5..Redsox in 5...more drama that way...

We will give it to Houston in 3 and the Cards in 4 in the national league....

Cards beat Houston...Sox beat the Angels...Sox repeat last year.... :dogpile:

The White Sox have been one of the hottest teams in baseball the last month and actually have the best chance of taking the whole thing this year unless Boston de-rails them at Fenway and stops their momentum...

I would much rather the RedSox were playing the Yanks...We KNOW we can beat them in the post season.....

Guess you dont follow the game much... :redheart: 😛

I didn't know Bill Buckner was still playing baseball

Good one Leafs... as a true Mets fan, I can appreciate that one... but as a Chicago transplant, I can also say Red Sox are totally blowing it! Dem guys are finally living up to their self proclaimed "idiot" label.

But, just to play Stat boy for a brief moment, Ray, while the White Sox did finish with a fantastic record this year, the past month has been close to their worst. The Sox were up 14 games as of the middle of August, and fell to something like 4 games up to finish it. It was a scary time around here in the Windy City, I had to confiscate many belts and shoelaces. But, hey, they made it to the playoffs, and unless something happens like the last time a decent team got lazy with a big playoff lead against the Red Sox, the Chi-Sox may have their first series win of any kind, divisional, league, or world, since 1917.

But seriously, (and when has anyone known me to be serious?) if the battle of the Soxes rages on like this, I'm gonna be a happy camper, simply because I can't stand the Red Sox. They're not as bad as the Yankees, but well, you get the point...

Now that I've sufficiently pissed EVERYONE off; I bid you good day... Go Los Angeles Anahiem California Raisins of California Anahiem Angels de la ciudad Los Angeles da hood California have we left anyone out Angels!!

(oh and Tickled Orange... that's a cute picture in your sig..)
