Jpie, I have nothing against the Yankees, oh, except Mr Steinbuyer's 200 million dollar payroll. I've come to learn over the past few years that the term "wild card" cannot be taken lightly. While my team, the Braves, has had the dubious distinction of having won 14 straight division titles, and until now, only one World Series, wild card teams scare the hell out of me. The last three World Champs were wild card teams, and, if Houston wins the wild card, as I fear they might, they could easily take my Braves out with their rotation of Clemens, Pettite, and Oswalt, plus their mega closer Brad Lidge. Would you like to face those guys in a five or seven game series? I sure as heck wouldnt.
It will be interesting to see who wins the wild card in the AL. My bet is that it could be Boston. In the NL, I keep hoping that somehow the Phillies can win tomorrow, and Greg Maddux beats the Stros, setting up a one game playoff on Monday that Philly would win, giving Atlanta a first round matchup with San Diego, whom I feel we can beat. If Atlanta plays Houston, we may have an early winter. As for the Yankees, and any other team, the playoffs the last three years have taught me that you cannot count any team out in a short series.
It may be Monday night before we know the outcome of everything. We'll see how it goes.
                Mitch
