Are you familiar with bastinado? Just because you're having something done to the soles of you feet, doesn't mean it's always going to tickle.

Pushing needles into the soles of your feet? -- I doubt it will tickle.

So I was watching this episode of Maury (stay with me - it's relevant I swear) and there was this old lady on who was tattooed from head to toe, literally, every square inch of her body. They asked her if there was any spot that she didn't have tattooed and she said the palms of her hands and bottoms of her feet, because they can't be tattooed. No idea why, but that's what she said.

We're always on our feet. The work wouldn't be guaranteed to last as long as one on your arm, shoulder, back, etc. -- A lot of tattoo artists refuse to do them because of that.

My guess is it would hurt like an SOB! I have 3 all together.. but on my feet is one place I'd never do. Besides the fact that, 1) it would be a bit silly cause honestly how many people will actually see it, and 2) if you get pedicures your scraping it off anyway.

Exactly. Regeneration of skin over the tattoo and then scrubbing dead skin away will also interact with the ink. Regardless of how deep it's put in.

Palms are the same way.

I don't think proximity is what determines how much a tattoo hurts. The ankle is gonna hurt like a bitch cause it's all bone - same with the top of the foot. You might be surprised at how little the bottoms of the feet might hurt due to callouses etc. Or I could be totally wrong and it might hurt like a bitch, but not because it's close the ankle.

I agree that someone with thicker, more calloused skin would probably experience less pain than someone with softer skin, but ticklishness and pain are two totally different sensations and are sensed in entirely different ways.

I failed Sensation and Perception 3 times - maybe someone with a better track record can explain what I mean LOL

I was told that getting a tattoo on either the palm of your hand or the sole of your foot is fruitless. The wear and tear that those parts get from day to day will apparently make the tattoos fade and smear.

I dont' know much about tattoos, but I take the info and give it as said to me.

On the palm of the hand they last. a friend of me has that. If they would fade away then they also wouldn't last on your elbows, but they do. Haha ..I know that. One of my arms is full with them, but anyway.
Back to that tickling stuff. Now honest, getting a tat doesn't tickle, it juz stitches and hurts a bit and that's it. I mean how can it tickle if you get needles in your skin? Nobody can really believe that

I would think that it would be painful more than it would tickle but it would probably tickle too to some degree making it near impossible to be done.
