Hollywood finall gives the big G justice.

I generally don't like movies made before the turn of the century, with a select few exceptions. Generally, I hate any movie back then that attempted to use special effects. It just doesn't compare to the CG effects used in today's movies. Movies like Karate Kid that didn't really use special effects are great, and the acting tends to be better than today's movies. But hey, that's a bit off-topic. In general, I've never been a big 'giant city-destroying monster battle' fan. It's just not my cup of tea.
So you post in a thread about giant monster movies just to say you don't like giant monster movies. Classic.

Godzilla. The very name rings tones of sweat pouring fear and anticipation in the bodies of Japanese everywhere. Yet here in America, the maker of the film Independence Day made Godzilla into a joke. Now, in 2012, Hollywood is once again going to try it's take on Godzilla. This time however, things are going to be different. I direct your attention to the pics below which are models for the big G in the upcoming film. This is going to be EPIC PEOPLE! ^_^

Those images look awesome Rox. I did not know that this movie was on the agenda. I will have to keep it on my radar.

The 90's Hollywood remake was garbage. It didn't even remotely have the feel of Godzilla. Production value means nothing when the soul of the film is absent.

I grew up on the originals and they were awesome, precisely because they were B-Movies. They are ultimately re-watchable just the same.

Thank you, FeatherDaemon, for having brains enough to understand what makes a movie worth watching.

And I managed to do it without insulting somebody. I'm just on a roll today, aren't I?

Must be why you can say things I completely and utterly disagree with... yet it doesn't bother me, unlike some people who voice their opinions in ways that make me want to see them hit with trucks. 😉

Rubber suit Godzilla spitting sparks out of his mouth with character whose mouth moved before they spoke vs. the American version with computer special effects, and yes, ew, Matthew Broderick as the "hero"

I'd take the American one hands down. at least it's watchable.

Decades ago, the "5 and Dime" used to sell little wind-up walking Godzillas that shot real sparks out their mouths!!! There was a Rodan and King Kong as well (so who cares if Kong didn't breathe fire in the movie?)

Very similar to THIS (but more awesome)

Here's a video of the robot Godzilla they used in Godzilla 1985 (aka "Return of Godzilla" in Japan).

Fun little fact people. As colossal as this robot is, it's only 30 feet tall (aka 10 meters). Godzilla (in real life) is supposed to be 80 FREAKING METERS TALL (at least in Godzilla 1985).

Pretty much makes the big G capable of stomping on Emmerich's Zilla like it was a pancake (and that's IF THE BIG G DOESN'T DECIDE TO JUST FRY IT WITH RADIOACTIVE FIRE)! ^_^

That is the lamest big animatronic critter I've ever seen. Its eyes don't move, its legs don't move, even its tail doesn't move. Does it even have a tail? :lol Considering all the $$$ Toho has saved on not hiring real actors or real writers for their kaiju films, they should be embarrassed to present such a pathetic model of their "baby".

As far as height goes, obviously you haven't heard of the Korean giant monster Yonggary that stands 548 feet tall. That's 167 FREAKING METERS TALL!

Pretty much makes Yonggary capable of stomping on Godzilla like it was a pancake (and that's IF Yonggary DOESN'T DECIDE TO JUST FRY IT WITH RADIOACTIVE FIRE)! ^_^

See how ridiculous this one-upmanship game can get? I look for monster quality over monster quantity. The scariest thing in Cloverfield wasn't the giant monster, it was the "little" dog-sized maneating parasites that traveled with it. One bite from those things would kill you, and they weren't stopping with one bite unless you stopped them first. The Cloverfield big monster couldn't even eat one cameraman without spitting him out. :rolleyes
