How close do you get to your RP partners (if at all)

Of course, not everyone RPs. A lot of people prefer something much more tangible.
And while I too would love something of the sort and to meet people and everything, my situation at home is.... Very bad. So, RPing is something I truly enjoy(ed)
My question to anyone willing to answer is how close do you become with your RP partners in general? I've seen and experienced varying degrees of attachment. I'm curious as to know what some members of this forum feel about this, or even how they feel about the topic of RPing in general.

It's not really a question of preference, either/or. I love real tickling but I also love using language to RP (the brain can be an erogenous zone 😉 ), neither one I can do with my partners in the other. They are just two unique facets of the interest for me. To answer your question, I would always want to have a personal connection with anyone that I participate in an online experience with. Or at least it has to consistently build the more we interact. I would prefer to fully appreciate that the other end is a person, so that's how I treat them. Knowing that other mind and connecting on a deeper level than just using them as a disposable means to get off is basically an essential part of it for me.

95% of my rp partners are my best friends and i've met only one of them.
We grow close to the point we all become like family in a way. They become
a part of me, not sure why but it just happens that way. Some of them I end
up not rping with cuz there styles change as they get older. Other then that
we still stay pretty close.

In my view, I get close to them but not to a bff status lol. It's the level of trust and acceptance I want in a friend without the worry of awkward moments. I tell them what I like, and I let them in on some very intimate and personal knowledge about what I like. So, it is very intimate but I also can't feel a full connection without hanging out in person. Did that make sense to anyone other than me? lol

made perfect sense actually, it just depends on the person. Some people are just rp partners and stay that way. Others can relate to you in real life and such so I guess that's what u trying to say.

I find that a RP sesson is a very fleeting thing. I wish it were not... I always try to get to "know" about the other person as much as I can. It makes the RP more fun and exciting.

Thanks for the responses folks, I was so focused on my wording I forgot to throw in my own two cents 😛

I've had a few RP partners but nothing very heated until within the last two years due to my age.
But pretty much any RP partner I've had has been a pretty close friend, some closer than others, the closest being the last one I had a year ago who ended up passing. I haven't RPed really since her.
I guess it's all due to compatibility and having it flow well and taking into account what the other person likes. I always feel like talking a good bit before RPing with them, since emotions can affect the RP in tremendous ways.

I guess in short; very close.

As a 'ler I don't feel it obligatory to know a person extremely well, aside from preferences etc. Lots of lees are looking for a quick fix, and I'm cool with that--not that being very close to people I 'ler isn't awesome too. Some of my best friends I ler on here x)

As a lee, however, it's a bit different. I need to know I can trust my 'ler, even in rp. I've been burned pretty bad by people making fun of my 'lee side in the past. I only lee to people I know pretty well, for the most part.

Oh god that sounds awful. If someone mocked me while RPing I'd most likely be crushed.
