Any statistics on how prevalent it is? Or even rough gestimates?

Nobody knows. It's a safe bet to assume most people like tickling to some extent, it's associated with flirting for a reason, but outright fetish, probably not so much.

I also want to point out "being able to be turned on with tickling" and "fetish for tickling" isn't the same thing, I think people assume they're both the same.

Yeah, it kind of depends on what you mean. Tickling is actually listed as a human universal, which "comprise those features of culture, society, language, behavior, and psyche for which there are no known exception." What degree it is from practice or pleasure or fetish or sexual or mix of them is really a shades of grey kind of thing.

Has anyone on this site 'fessed up yet to having the fetish? 😉 Even on good ol' TMF and TT, not everyone has the fetish. Being exposed to tickling with your SO may increase or decrease your baseline fondness for tickling. Whether it would become a fetish is doubtful. For those of us with the fetish, its nature vs nurture origins, and possible existence of the early ah-ha( or is that ah-ha-ha-ha) moment that seemed to cause the fetish have been discused in other threads. The tickle vid/magazine/comics etc vendors know how many customers they have, but they may also be getting some foot fetish crossover business.

I'd be interested to hear more about the distinction. Is it that fetish suggests a personal desire for it, but "able to be" just means that someone can do it to you and that it's not necessarily a desire? Thanks...

By that definition, I'd say the fetish is rare in my area. Fortunately my car is reliable for travel.

From Wikipedia: Sexual fetishism, or erotic fetishism, is the sexual arousal a person receives from a physical object, or from a specific situation. The object or situation of interest is called the fetish; the person who has a fetish for that object/situation is a fetishist. A sexual fetish may be regarded as an enhancing element to a romantic/sexual relationship "achieved in ordinary ways (e.g. having the partner wear a particular garment)" or as a mental disorder of sexual preference if it causes significant psychosocial distress for the person or has detrimental effects on important areas of their life. Arousal from a particular body part is classified as partialism.

It is a matter of degree.

It's a component of flirting for a large segment of the population but isn't considered an activity that should dominate the sexual encounter. For example, I've had several girls give me a quick tickle while flirting, usually doesn't last more than a few seconds. If I bring it up again, like, suggest how they discovered that I'm ticklish, they'll just laugh. It's really hard to get a girl to take the hint that you WANT to be tickled and that being tickled is the primary way that you get aroused. Often those very girls who tickle you will be weirded out if they find out the truth about your tickling fetish.
