This is for us old timers on the forum. I am talking about pre-Cartoon Network. Back when cable was new. In the days when networks actually signed off the air for the night. Waaaaaaaaaaay back in the 1980's!

I recall waking up around 6:30-7 am to catch the cartoons I wanted to see. I LOVED Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends along with the Superfriends/Galactic Guardians. Hey, I had to get my fill of my superhero cartoons! Usually, once the cartoons ended around 11 am-noon, I would run outside to play (video games? what's that?)

The one thing I hated about my particular market, was that my most favorite cartoon, The Transformers, was on Sunday mornings...so that screwed up my cartoon watching a little bit. I was much happier when it went to a weekday after school schedule. It was on at 5 pm, the FINAL cartoon of the day!

How about you? What time did you wake up on Saturday mornings? Which shows were your favorites?

Good thread. I was somewhere around 7-ish, myself. I watched just about everything. Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends and Superfriends included.

How about waaay back in the 60's,with no cable at all?🙂 The cartoons started at 7,but i was always up before then and no doubt doing something i should not have been.

I liked all the Warner Brothers stuff.

I can remember getting up at 06.00 so I could watch repeats of transformers and the original Spiderman cartoons when we first got satellite.

They also showed some rather obscure stuff which I've never seen since. Fat Albert anyone? Is that real or did I imagine it?

Nope, I remember it! Hey-hey-hey! 😀

i used to get up before the channel went back on the air and wait until it came back on then the cartoons started ahhhhhh the good old days

6:30'ish

Funny how mom practically had to drag me out of bed at 7:30 every weekday morning for school, but come Sat morning, I was wide awake at 6:30. It's like your body just knew it was cartoon time.

I was the same way! I would have to have my butt dragged out of bed on the weekdays...but Saturday morning I was up at 7am, wide-eyed and ready to go! Now it's like noon before I get up on a Saturday 😛.

I'd get up at 4 to go hunting, and come back to the house at around 7am to watch Superted.

There must be a very limited age range where you can get away with doing both of these activities in the same day.

'Tis when I lived on my uncles farm, we (my cousins and I) would hunt pheasant for lunch.
I'd have been about 8 or 9, I think.

Wll i wasnt qaround in the 1800s but in the 1900s i woke up at like 6 or 7 in the morning to watch certain shows.

I woke up around 6 in the morning in hopes of watching 'Sonic the Hedgehog'. Not the crappy toon that was created by those on drugs, but the cooler one.

Actually, Fat Albert came on at 12:30pm, so I never missed it. But I had to get up around 9 or 10am in order to see "Dastardly and Muttley in Their Flying Machines" or "Archie's Funhouse".

And hell....I'd get up at four in the morning to catch the "Go Go Gophers".

Well....if you were alive in the 1800's, youd have gotten up early one Saturday morning and waited a LOOOOOOOOOONG time for cartoons to start. Like, around 50 years.

aaaahhhhh. The good old days. I would get up at the crack of dawn and watch all the old classics. The real Ghostbusters, Dungeons and Dragons, Saturday Supercade, Mighty Orbots, and soooo many more I could think of.

I am definately a child of the eighties. lol

It was a dark day indeed when I woke up one morning all ready to watch my cartoons and suddenly they were gone.

AAAAAH-HAHAHA! THE PAIN! THE PAIN!

Man - does anybody remember EEK! The Cat?

That show was THE SHIT. I have no idea when I'd get up for it, but goddamn did the FOX kid's channel have some good crap in the mornin'.

THE MIGHTY ORBOTS! I thought I imagined that cartoon since no one I know ever remembers it. At last, I am vindicated! It was real.

I used to love to watch Scooby Doo every Saturday morning when I was younger. I dont recall what time it came on, usually like 8 to 9 range, I think. I always made sure I was up to watch Scooby.
